Jack Cogger discussion

Coggs has certainly surprised in the last few games. I have been left with egg on my face but very happy to admit I was wrong. The more he
plays 1sts the more confident he becomes. I was critical of his attack options but NEVER his defensive efforts. Hopefully he'll continue on an upward spiral. Could I ask anyone why Fletcher Hunt was not selected as 5/8 for the last few games?? Poor old Jackson runs like he is in moon boots!!

He has a couple of good games in recent weeks but he was back to being horrible against Raiders. Definitely not a legitimate consistent first grade half option.

Hunt was terrible at 6 in NSW cup on the weekend.

The answer to Fletcher Hunt? He’s not Fletcher Sharpe 2.0 he’s Fletcher Hunt. He’s a wing, centre and fullback - keep him there and let him refine his craft. AOB needs to stop trying to craft people into positions away from where their skills lie. If he needed to switch to fill a moment, sure.
As someone mentioned he was awful at 6 in cup. His highlights come from his skills he uses in those other positions. Let him shine there

I think it was more out of necessity than want.

The two positions Hunt has played the most in at the Knights are fullback and 5/8.
He only joined us last year and played the whole Ball season at 5/8 and was one of the best in the side, and then played half a season of Flegg at fullback, and again went well.
He's only played wing and centre this year in reserves and firsts.
His game in reserves at 5/8 last week - he made a bunch of unforced errors - mostly dropped balls and poor passes - he looked like his heart wasn't in it to be honest.

Onya Billy!! Hunt is a highly promising player and better than a few cattle that our ever brilliant management have signed. And yes, he is and was a 5/8 for those sceptics! How many times have we seen juniors put into the NRL and perform creditably then sent back to the Reggies and go ordinarily. Boys, it's footie not marbles!!
The more I read these threads the more I wonder how many of the contributors have actually attended a game.
As for Cogs, he has definitely improved. Even our old mate Joey gave him praise for straightening our attack!

The straightener was a very frustrating player more often than not but I don't think he was expected to play as often as he did. Due to Hastings' form from 2023 falling off a cliff and Gamble being injury prone. Was supposed to be Clune's replacement.

Did have a blinder against Souths last year but most of his performances here in 2024 and 2025 were mediocre at best.

Will probably go OK back at Penrith backing up there not having to play first grade every week.
