Recruitment And Retention Discussion

Next year 1.3 mil is high pay for a half. In ten years time it wont be, we will have $2000000 players by then - Brown will likely be on unders.

If we have the cash to cover the 1.3 mil over the next 2-3 years I don't see the brown signing being a problem. The kicking games and game management of Brown, Sharpe, Ponga, etc may not be 10/10 but will certainly improve in time. Should be a sweet spot in about 3 years time when as you mentioned we are getting some value out of guys like McEwen. We can potentially unload Hastings, Gamble, Cogger and replace with base price players and we have close to covered the cost.

That's good news (on both fronts) I had thought that Lodge was only on a train and trial and that Wil wasn't coming until next year.

Be interesting to see what changes AOB makes next week.

They're just not going to let it go like the good little minions of Uncle Nick they are:

I do like the way Webster says he's not saying KP is unhappy but then claims to know how he feels about winning a comp * and what he will or wont do to achieve that goal.

* and yes every player wants to win the comp but the only thing that Ponga has said is he wants to win a comp with the Knights. Any thing else is made up or a guess.

Whats the TLDR version of Foxsport's desperation to get Ponga out of Newcastle?

They basically said the same stuff last time he was about to go off contract, which inevitably ended up being way off the mark

Josh King has resigned with Melbourne until the end of 2027
Watched the Stan documentary on Bellamy the other day. Crazy how different coaches and different environments can lead to vastly different outcomes.

Was saying he was basically getting 10-20 minutes a game. Wasn’t worth it to him. Wanted to give it up.

Now she’s missed a handful of games since he’s been there and one of their most consistent players.

Great for him.

The Knights' next contract circus has already begun

Story by Ben Glover aged 10 *

No one in the NRL other than the Knights can talk to Kalyn about his next contract, within the rules (*cough Roosters), before Nov. 1, 2026, so this is just silly and opportunistic clickbait.

* I may have added "aged 10"
