2025 Witzer Pre-Season Challenge - Round 2 - Knights V Eels - McDonald Jones Stadium - 6:00pm Friday 14 February

Volkman looking the goods would actually be great news for us considering we’re interested in one of their other halves… all of a sudden if you’re a cap manager you might feel like you’re seeing a way to save a bit of money. Chess not checkers.

Volkman was the dude coming through the grades that looked like Milford yeah? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I’m overly worried not our full strength team and execution has been well off.

Mind you cant no pun intended really can’t tackle.
Its always been his weak point. Can definitely fix it with time though youd think. Time not in FG that is

Im not reading much into anything ive seen, no teams are defending multiple sets with the squads they are rolling out.. scoreline is a direct reflection of errors and possesion. Both teams makeshift edges look ordinary, had the posession and errors been flipped the scoreline probably is too
Agree

Cogger and Pryce been pretty ordinary, even sharpe not exactly setting the game on fire compared to the eels halves. Volkmann killing it
Ill clarify that, they have linked together and felt we looked like we actually had shape we could score points from. Our centres and wingers were actually in the game. Execution wasnt great however.

My main takeaways so far:

- Our props looking a bit behind the parra props.
- Friz in the middle looks great
- Sharpe looking dangerous, defence isn't terrible but not there yet, still work to do (inside push could be a lot better)
- Marzhew, Friz, Brailey and KPP standouts so far
- missing the likes of Saf, Leo, Lucas, Best, Gags and of course KP which is visible.
- Pryce has had a couple good touches, but once again; rocks and diamonds with him.
- looking forward to seeing Tyrone Thompson, Votano, Hopwood, Arthur and ESL
- Let's look to build more pressure before the silly offloads!!!!

Let’s just wait and see if Volkman can get through three games without his shoulder exploding again before we decide it’s a massive missed opportunity.

Likewise if Brown takes up his options and Volkman’s fit and absolutely caning NSW Cup, there’s a pretty big chance POS picks him up, because there aren’t a lot of clubs with serious cap space in search of a new halfback.
