2025 pre season thread

It can't just be Ponga. Without multiple threats, there's much less defensive indecision which is why the Knights don't score enough points.
I’d really like to see Schiller squeeze in for that reason. Teams need to be wary of many points on the park, not to just cover one to seal a win.

I do agree with Treadly though towards the back end of the last two seasons. Before then we’ve been pretty one dimensional most games.

One of the best players I’ve seen never to go on with it played highschool league and union in the town I grew up in. Sydney private schools offered him scholarships and he wasn’t interested whatsoever. Anyway, I was watching him play a union game where he picked up the ball in his in goal area, put up a monster of a kick and then caught it on the full jumping above everyone’s heads on the halfway line.

It’s doable because I’ve seen it 😆
I used to love the quote by Doug Walters, he said as a bowler, he was slow enough that if he didn't like what he'd delivered, he could retrieve it before it got to the batsmen.

Haha wish I’d known that line when I used to play, summed me up too!

That wouldn't be my choice, but I trust the coaching staff to pick who’s best based on this pre season.

I’m am definitely in the camp of Brailey and Crossland sharing the 9 role.

Doesn’t matter who is playing 6 & 7 it’s how they use the more attacking style players around them, like Ponga, Best, Gagai, when opportunity arises. Hastings being fit and well, physical and mental would be a big improvement

Cogger/Gamble....striking fear into the hearts of...no one.

Not sure how this solves the Knights' problem with a lack of scoring.
You could throw any of our half combinations together & say the same thing . In rnd 1 the tigers won't be coming here to get in the grind . Appears Obi is going safety first 🤔. Doesn't say it's locked in yet .I would say Hastings has burnt his bridges ?

Given at his best Hastings is a better attacking and defensive player than Cogger yeah it doesn't look great for the comeback narrative.

Agree there's no good solution but Cogger/Gamble would have to be close to the bottom of the halves combination rankings.

Let's hope our defence is rock solid.

Toohey is saying 7 Cogger 6 Gamble is the favoured pick at the moment
I can live with that and goes what I am saying with Hastings being zero chance of first grade, coach has to atleast show his giving him a go or RLPA will eat our @rse out. Random musing, surely Broncos would be after a half?

Also Arthur’s will and should start in reserve grade.

I don’t see Pryce cracking round 1.

1. Ponga.
2. Marzhew.
3. Gags.
4. Best.
5. Fletch.
6. Gamble.
7. ?????
8. Jake.
9. Brailey.
10. Leo.
11. Lucas.
12. KPP.
13. Elliott.
14. Cross.
15. Hetherington.
16. Jones.
17. Frizz.

Lucas?

I think The dragons halves might have more points in them as individuals but they aren't better team players
Gamble will be fine it's Cogger that worries me and really hope he proves me wrong
Agree,
I think Gamble is the better half of the four, but Cogger is the worst of the lot imo.
So it's hard for me to split the two combos.
