NRL Round 23 - Knights V Tigers - 4:05pm Sunday 11 August - McDonald Jones Stadium

I thought we stopped trying to play footy with 15 minutes to go. Gamble and Gags getting into stupid stuff.

They dragged us back down. I think if we stuck to our processes we would put at least 40 on them.

We got the points but, not happy with our spine, Ponga was a bit hot and cold, actually did some silly things, Gamble is a bit the same, thought his last 10-15 was ordinary, let his emotions override his aim but he had some very good moments especially that kick to Sharpe, good vision. Crosslands I couldn’t work out where he was playing, 7, 9 or 13 but he does give his all. Better effort from Brailey but let’s stop his silly little kicks from a metre or two out.
Having said that we will have the same four again as season is on line.
Missing spine player, Cogger, little time, no highlight, can’t be any straighter than that
2-4, Sharpe brilliant, Marzhew very good, Gagai had his moments especially setting up Sharpe, Mapapalangi was ok, scored a try but not noted for anything else.
Pack were ok, Elliott best along with Frizell, Dan and Thompson strong, KPP was just ok.
Bench Thought Hetherington played strong had moments, Croker not so much and Jones had limited time

Thought that was more comfortable than the shoreline had it. The scrum try was really disappointing and the Bula try was completely against the run of play. We had 3-4 tries disallowed and bombed a couple of others.

As others have said, how does Cogger make the bench over Hastings. There’s no chance he’s better halves cover, he covers lock much better and if something happened to Brailey early in the game Crossland would move to hooker.

You didn't miss anything. He came on, but I didn't even notice him.
Not any fault of his own, bro literally came on to play like 6 minutes passing the ball out of dummy half. That one is on the coach, pointless selection. Having an average specialist half sitting on the bench to play a few minutes of hooker might actually be the least useful way we could use that spot.

There’s a middle ground though. You can put in a decent contest AND not over-commit.
Thats exactly right, you don't have to uncontest every kick, there comes a point where its super predictable and the defence no longer jumps etc. If we mix it up we could potentially exploit this, as there were multiple times today where our attack could've easily jumped above the defender like Bula did with Ponga. There needs to be variety.

I can see the positives of the strategy where you essentially can burn an extra two plays by smothering the catcher on the first play, as opposed to making an error and giving away a 7 tackle set.
