NRL Round 23 - Knights V Tigers - 4:05pm Sunday 11 August - McDonald Jones Stadium

I think with JSaf likely out, it's time to move Friz to the middle. Lucas doesn't have the lateral movement in defence to play out in the centres. And he clearly proved that he can be a great back rower, arguably our best and most consistent player this season when playing 2nd row.

If i'm being totally honest, i don't think KPP has been playing great. I understand he isn't used great, but he is consistently missing some crucial tackles leading to breaks, and some errors creeping into his game. I'd argue Lucas should be starting on either 2nd row spot.
Lucas should play second row. We should pick Jenkins at centre at least he should be good defensively as it is his preferred position.

Reserve grade stats are in.
Jackson Hastings started at lock and played 80 minutes. He made an incredible 25 runs for 161 metres and was second highest tackler with 26. 0 missed.
He also had 2 try assists and 2 linebreak assists.
He only had 33 post contact metres, so wasn't exactly bending the line much.
He didn't shirk the work at lock.
57 fantasy points behind only Will Pryce on 73 (who scored a try and kicked goals - so got extra points for that)

Creds to him for having a go. Hopefully he racks off in the offseason though.

Maybe it’s an English thing. Nobody really rated Dom in his fist year hear but a good preseason saw him become the most sought after winger in the world within weeks of a new year.

No preseason & playing our one out forward orientated style ? I'm sure he is feeling it . Not the style he would have been playing in Superleague . Like Ponga , put him in a decent team & he would be a superstar

The season is over, really need to be planning for 2025. They should test if a Gamble/Pryce halves pairing works at any level at some point, because it might be the best we've got next year.
Pryce has some flare to his game. He needs to get used to the speed of first grade

Unless we see Crosslands as our future 7, we should be playing Pryce and Gamble.

Brailey showed shades of his running game and service was good on the weekend, I don't mind Crossland at 7 and a fit confident Brailey at 9 TBH.

Or even Pryce and Crossland as halves and Gamble as 14(his best position for mine, love his energy and aggression off the bench, doesn't seem to have the same impact when starting.)

Don't mind that if we don't offload Brails , I like it . A preseason training together could complement each other & Gamble at 14. Tries his heart out , but lacks a bit of finess at 6 for mine . That's all assuming we don't get Pezet .

All I ask for in 2025 is if someone gets injured can we replace them with a specialist in that position? None of this Cant/Lucas to centre. Lucas, while having played there in the past, has shown he’s adapted much better to second-row and put on more weight to play there. Sick of seeing the team list chopping and changing every other week. No wonder we’re stuck being a mid team. No cohesion or consistency.

Who do you want to play there? We have tried Maps and Jenkins there and they are both pretty terrible.

I certainly did. I was saying Dom was going to be great, and defending the errors he made!

But yeah it's a big adjustment coming over, new systems they wouldn't be used to, different game really, speed and intensity wise, probably not as big a difference Knights to the Superleague, but still some.

Dom was supposed to be a centre and trained as a centre for a good chunk of his first pre-season.
I've never been so sure of anything to do with Rugby League as I was that he was going to be a great winger from the first time I saw him run.

Jenkins position is right centre, best attribute is D.
Gagai had his best years at left centre for the Bunnies, (attacking flair).
Lucas is an out n out left backrower.
KPP is a right backrower.
Pongas best plays are to the left, imagine him going to Lucas and Gagai(while Best is injured)?

How hard is it to play players in their positions?

I’d go
Ponga
Sharpe
Gagai
Jenkins
Marz
Gamble
Crossland
Leo
Brailey
Friz
Lucas
KPP
Elliott

Hastings / Jones (whoever they’ve got more faith in playing 20 at 9)
DSAF
Jones
Cant

Also if Tuala is back before end of the year him centre and keep Sharpe / Marz as the wingers.

Don’t want Jenkins anywhere near FG. Keep Lucas in the centres and replace J Saf with Sua.
Tuala shouldn’t be far off? Wasn’t he out of 4 to 6 weeks? It’s been about that long since he got hurt.
