Toohey's News

Probably not getting rid of his full salary but I reckon Salford, among other Super League teams, would give him a marquee spot. He's already viewed as a god at Salford and they were keen to get him back earlier this year (presumably aware of his contract situation.)

For some reference on marquee deals (only a portion counts towards the cap) Mitchell Pearce was apparently just under $700k per year, Brodie Croft on a similar salary now, and John Asiata around $425k as a marquee to show the lower end. If a team picked him up for $5-600k with the Knights eating the remainder for next season I'd be fine with it. As I said I think it's a ticking time bomb with the club pretty publicly looking for a new half.

20/6
O'Sullivan was in town and started work yesterday. Gardener described him as "the missing piece of the puzzle" etc etc etc.

Rory Kostjaysyn will join Kristian Woolf at the Dolphins next year and we are looking for 1 new assistant coach for next year.

Toohey talks about the twists and turns of the David Armstrong contract. It sounds like it isn't clear who is legally his manager. Very messy. It says Armstrong and his manager have been "given room" to consider his future.

It’s great to hear that O’Sullivan has already started work with the Knights. I believe apart from possibly the men’s head coach, we now have all the puzzle pieces. Time will tell if AOB is up to the job of head coach.
You mean the 3 and 1/2 years of time spent making up the numbers hasn't told already?

I’d have punted AOB and tried to bring Flanno in. I know the Dragons have had some bad games, but I bet they’re successful before we are.
The only downside with that would be his son would take up one of the elite half positions. But even carrying him, Dragons will beat us to good times I believe

Just a question to the guys against Aob what do you rate our roster compared to the other teams. I'd have us somewhere in the middle of the pack and that's were we've been finishing. I think we are another elite half or 5/8 and maybe a winger away from being in the conversation with the top teams
AOB assembled it gee. It's literally his roster.

What we are witnessing is AOBs ceiling as a head coach at the Newcastle Knights.
