8. DSaf
9. Brailey

I'll get in on this

1. Ponga
2. Tuala
3. Gags
4. Best
5. Marz
6. Pryce
7. Hastings
8. Dsaf
9. Brails

17. Keeley/KPP - Depending who has better off-season

Front row still our problem, not enough depth coming through to help out. Bar moving Hetherington or Croker or Elliot around to cover when needed - moving for player swaps the likes of Mapa and maybe Martin to get a Hola/Hazelton/Monney signed is needed

Hastings

Elliott
Lucas
Frizell
Thompson
Brailey
D Saf

Crossland
J Saf
Croker
Hetherington

18th man Jed Cartwright

Admire some of the calls you guys are making, but I’ve gone conservative. Actively betting against two young guys who’ve only experienced English pre-seasons and contact making an Australian first grade team at first time of asking, particularly as starters. Both are gonna need to play a lot better than they have been this season to get a real shot at first grade with us before their deals are up.

Lachie Miller getting in at 6 over Gamble is more likely than Pryce IMO.

I've just written it in another thread, for what we are paying those two from England, they have to work if we are to make a splash short term. I don't disagree with your sentiment though.

Provided he's fit (a problem for him at times so far) I'd be pretty surprised if KPP isn't in the side within the first 5 rounds or so, could definitely see a round 1 appearance too. Pryce is too rogue to make predictions on so I'm going to go Gamble if Clune isn't being re-signed and hope for the best case where Pryce could pop up from 1-6.

Hetherington, Cant, Keeley, Cartwright could all be there too, likely bench.

Pompey hasn't played on the sting regularly since 2020, think Toohey suggesting he could be on the wing are a case of putting 2 and 2 together to get 5. Doesn't really look like anything other than a centre either, much less replicating any of Doms attributes.

To engage with a positive development, with at least one of KPP/Lucas/Cartwright will be in the side so we now have genuine cover for mid-game outside back injuries which comforts a little. Touch wood we've been pretty lucky this season because Fitz/Friz don't offer much in that way at all.

2024 roster has gone backwards from 2023.

Losing Young will have a far bigger impact than the club is hoping. How we let him leave with a 1 year contract advantage has to be one of the poorest calculations made by the club in a long time. Statistically, Young is worth $700k p.a. Easily. Especially to us. What we saved by letting him go we will blow by overpaying two average first graders $100k each.

We basically lost Young to buy a 'Jed Cartwright' instead of promoting a junior. That's how easily we could've found that money elsewhere.

Unless the Safs earn their wage next year we'll be bottom 8. That's an absolute certainty. And AOB has shown little capacity to motivate the twins.

100% on this. Major **** up in letting Dom Young walk.

Won't fall off my chair in surprise if he goes on to become a superstar and a great of the game. At the very least one of the best outside backs in the world for the next 10 years - I'm certain the Roosters agree.

edit- and I'm pretty sure we'd have a couple less wins this year without him.

I don’t think Dom is worth $700K, personally. I would go as far as to say he’s been the second best winger in our team this year. And if we found a $700K forward who’s actually worth that money, that’s a more valuable player.

I try to be flexible and adjust my thinking as the game evolves, but I do think it’s simply impossible for a winger to bring that kind of value, even as a high yardage back 5 becomes a better and better strategy. I recognise how amazing his solo length of the field tries are, but I’d trade him for Brian To’o in a heartbeat.

He's already a superstar.
I had a look a week or two back (before the Dogs annihilation) and he had either scored or assisted a third of the knights tries this season.
that he's gone to another club after being in the Knights system says so much. We had him, settled in the Hunter. He wanted to play centre ? then do a Robbo and promise him centre and play him on the wing. .....we lost big time.

right now you might , even though Dom has more line breaks , more tackle breaks, this year and is 3 years younger than To'o....... in the not too distant future though? barring injury the reply will be To'o who?

Edit - and it's worth remembering To'o is a part of the all conquering Panthers and Dom has reached this height so far playing for the Knights.

Dom has a big future , but still has a few mistakes in his game . I'm glad we didn't get in a bidding war with the chooks . I think $500k was fair at this stage

let's just say if Tuala is on 350K , is Dom now, or will Dom be, worth Tuala x 2? there's certain players you just know are special, that they will be game breakers, winners, bums on seats, lead you to a Premiership type players - Dom Young will be one of those players IMO
