Adam O'Brien replacement?

I think this discussion is going to heat up again soon. Today was terrible including the game plan and bench rotation. We're never going anywhere with AOB in charge. He may have been a good assistant coach but as a head coach he just doesn't have it.
Yep totally agree. We have a team that doesn't look like they know what they are doing. Whatever AOB is doing isn't working.

Madge?
I think he'd do a better job than Obi, not sure he's the best option though.

"(However), Knights insiders fear Maguire could be too tough for the Newcastle playing group."

The players do need a good kick up the butt.

Hard pass. He had a good, short run with the Bunnies about 10 years ago.

Haha he would totally destroy our players, they would be clueless getting pushed hard by a coach like that.

I think he’d be great here, really good coach.

Id just like a coach that has a really strong vision on what type of team the knights should be and how they should play.

We don't have a football identity, other than being incredibly inconsistent with effort and execution.
I’d love to see a Knights outfit that was all about speed, aggression and utter professionalism. A team that doesn’t get tired, remains calm and focused, turns up 💯 for every training session, fan days, is passionate about their job to unhealthy levels, don’t mind staying back at training an extra hour or more if they feel they didn’t nail everything down, didn’t get distracted by media, drugs and alcohol and then on the field every single tackle is just a horrid and painful experience for the opposing side and keep the other team running non stop. Not a moment to catch a breath. No more one out passing, constantly keep the opposing team guessing so every video every week is different. There’s no clear defining patterns for the opposite side to pick apart.

If every player worked to that level we’d be a nightmare across tho board. Greatness attracts greatness and great players would want to sign on. What’s more if there was an injury or two then it could be replaced by the next nightmare fuel.

Each guy at this club needs to take a hard look at themselves and assess wether there’s more they could be doing and do it better.

I've said it before, bit left field but I would go with John Morris as head coach. Maybe the opposite of Madge.
He suits us down to a tee, did a perfect job translating the strong period of junior reps success Cronulla had in the mid-late 2010s into first-graders. We're in a very similar position with those junior reps at the moment and one of the clubs biggest failures in recent times has been turning those talented junior teams into genuine first-grade prospects with our club - rather than stalling development and having them end up elsewhere.

Overachieved with a young squad despite being hamstrung by cap penalties imposed on him, playing squad was openly gutted when he was sacked. Doesn't have experience coaching a side to the top 4 but has since done time assisting with Souths who are top of the table contenders. Someone you could build the club around, particularly as a former player and local who would already have a connection and intimate understanding of the club.

I disagree re the Morris calls and think people were upset about him getting sacked because he’s just a really nice guy. Nobody wanted to come and sign at the Sharks because they thought he couldn’t coach. They had a roster that was middle of the road and that’s how they played, I’m pretty sure they made the finals one season when they didn’t beat anyone above them on the ladder.

If AOB was to be sacked the end of the year, I’d be keenest on Madge. Tigers seems like a terrible place to coach but he was able to convince some top class recruits to come and play for them. Think we’d do well with him.

I wouldn’t mind Morris, but given the choice I’d take Maguire for sure. He’s got a proven track record of success (I won’t hold the Tigers debacle against him). When it comes down to it Morris couldn’t get his side to beat top four sides and just had them as a top eight filler. They weren’t competing for the trophy under him.

Yeah I’m of the opinion to look forward at a younger coach. Look at the job Webster is doing at the Warriors. I can understand the argument of having a more experienced coach. And it could be a risk with Morris but there could also be a lot of upside. With Madge **** system or not the players were not responding. The club now has strung a few wins together and are starting to look a better side.
