Who should be number 7 for next season?

As I said in the quoted post there were murmurs all year of him wanting to go so when you finally did approve him on leaving it was too late to sign a suitable replacement. Could of and should of thrown your hat in the ring at the experienced premiership winners, signed one of them before letting him leave.

Hastings over Townsend and Reynolds

Luckily you have no control at the Knights or at least I hope you don’t for all Knights fans.
My reasoning behind signing Hastings over Townsend and Reynold was age...

The Knights are not going to win in the next 2-3 years and both Townsend and Reynolds will be retired or close to it in 2025-26.

Hastings is 26 and will be 30 in 2026 and that is a much more logical signing for the Knights imo...

No team is ever going to win in the NRL with Hastings so might as well have a crack with proven winners.

Probably shouldn’t of let Pearce go for starters or atleast have a plan in place when you did, not sign Clune and now Gamble. But hey I don’t get paid the big bucks to make these decisions.

Could of chased after a certain premiership winning half last season to replace Pearce (there were murmurs all year he wanted out so there was time to get a replacement) 2 were on the market and both those teams look likely in making the finals this season.

This year granted but that’s due to bad planning for not having a replacement this year.

Never ending cycle just replacing sh*t with sh*t, hopefully Parr can change that for you guys but I wouldn’t hold my breathe with the decimation of a squad he did to my mob in his last few years in charge.

Again. What is the point of any of this? What are you adding?

What is this thread called? Here, I’ve screenshotted it for you in case scrolling up is too hard.

Do you have any actual input? Before you answer, “The mighty Cowboys ride high on the back of the greatest halfback of all time, Chad Townsend. I masturbate to the picture I have of him on my wall. Giddy up!” does not count.

What is the point of this… don’t quote and reply if you don’t like what I’m saying. Simple.

The irony of your posts adding nothing to the thread topic.

He can't even get a halves role at the Tigers...

He won't win you a comp, some games yes but not a comp.

Want a half to win a comp

Moses
Munster

Honestly thats about it in this competition not many decent halves around.

Kotoni is under contract until the end of 2025 and also he and his manager Isaac Moses used the interest we had in him when last off contract to drive his price up.

We need a proven and experienced playmaker.
I doubt we could get him, but given our current predicament, I'd ring that George Williams guy who played for Canberra and ask him if a million dollars could cure his homesickness and get him to Newcastle.
Going a long way back to revive this post, but he was keen on coming to the NRL long before the Raiders got him for $600K/season + transfer fee. No one was willing to take the punt on an English half besides Canberra (not even alleged recruitment genius Nathan Brown - https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/kn...lish-gun-george-williams-20180811-p4zwvs.html - even though it's hard to think of another player who would have complimented Pearce and Ponga better than he does).

Raiders fans and media apparatchiks will swear till they're blue in the face that Williams' homesickness thing was ********, that his true motive was to secure a contract with a coastal club so he and his wife could live near the beach, and they carry on like the club calling his bluff and allowing a conditional release only if it's to an English side was the greatest coup in the history of rugby league. From the outside looking in, my read is the Raiders & Sticky showed zero compassion for a young parents-to-be who came over pre-COVID and suddenly found themselves totally cut off from family, with no prospect of being able to simply fly over or fly parents in for a visit. A bit of understanding and they might have been able to keep him. My evidence for this is simply observing that Sticky is the most spiteful and temperamental man in rugby league - there's no middle ground with him, once he's off you a bit, he's off you completely.

But if there was anything at all to the rumour that he wanted to live on the coast? Yeah absolutely, he's the guy to pursue. He was something a bit different for the NRL, a bit of a throwback in some ways with his unorthodox (for the modern game) short kicking game, and I reckon over his 30 or so games he was one of the best 5 or so halfbacks running around in the NRL.

Under contract till the end of 2024 but the club he's at (Warrington) is terrible and you can get guys out of deals early from England if there's a transfer fee. You also don't have to wait till November 1st.

I don't know what dollar value I'd put on him as a player, but yeah if a million is what it would take, absolutely do that. If that's an overpay, it's only by about $1-200K. Absolutely agree that if the club hasn't at least sounded out his manager, they're dopey as hell.

1. Garrick
6. Ponga
7. Williams
9. Brailey

Potential depth (from about 2024-on):

Pryce (five-eighth/fullback)
Gamble (five-eighth/halfback)
French (fullback/wing)
(Need depth hooker)
Would be the best spine & back-up options we've had in a very long time.

As far as why we didn't chase them.. we thought we had Pearce for this year.. I think we should have been looking for Pearces replacement anyway but.. here we are.
From memory, MP was only offered a one year deal extension for 2023 and that there were discussions of him not even taking that deal.
Therefore, we should have chased the soon to be decent & available half-backs then. I'm hoping, as are others on here, that Peter Parr will fix these blatant misses now & in the future.

Dug up his Williams' stats for his first season in the NRL, care of the psychos at The Greenhouse. Makes for pretty impressive reading given he was going directly from the Super League to the NRL - no NSW or Qld Cup, nothing to ease him into it.

Games: 22
Average minutes: 77
Points: 29
Tries: 7
Field goals: 1
Try assists: 17
Secondary try contributions: 4
Total try involvements: 28
Total kicks: 195
Kick metres: 5033
Average kick metres per match: 229
40/20's: 0
Forced drop outs: 19
Kicks dead: 5
Kick errors: 6

Apparently he has not been playing that well in the SL

Have watched him a bit, I don't think I agree with that. That Warrington team is just awful. He's still regarded as an absolute moral to be the English halfback at the World Cup so he can't be going too bad.

Anyway, just an idea.

We're just not gonna get Cam Munster or Mitch Moses. If the club is gearing up to chase Munny like Barry has suggested, we're just gonna end up sitting their with nothing in our hands but our ****s. Munster will re-sign with Melbourne or join The. Moses will extend with Parramatta for around $1.2-1.3 million. Ben Hunt will stay at St George, Cody Walker at Souths. Matt Burton will either take $1 million+ to stay at Canterbury or take less money to go to Melbourne or Easts. I'm a big fan of Dylan Brown but if the chat about KP moving into the halves is true, they're maybe a bit too similar.

Our options:

- Pursue realistic options: The safe one (from a footy perspective, allegedly not from an off-field one) in Hastings, or take the big, risky swing on talent in Brooks.
- Think outside the box a bit (Williams).

Wasn't based off anything i've seen, just saw people complaining about how **** he is online...

They should of been looking to replace him even if he wanted to stay. It’s not rocket science he was coming to the end of his career.
