2022 State of Origin

We need to start voting on an “Official Forum Stance” so CBM can get his “I told ya so”s on point.
I’ve got a whole lot of I told you so’s built up ready to go 😎🤣

If only Lordys favourite thread could be unlocked. Post #501 is a belter if I don’t say so myself.

I’ll say this for Chaddy brah, anyone who says they’d have Nicho “Meth Teeth” Hynes over him at 7 is a clown, and he’s a more deserving of a spot in the squad than Hynes for sure.

Not hard being better than Hynes. Overrated and benefited greatly from the Storm system.

Poor McLean, don’t know how Fittler is going to overcome this massive blow for NSW. Unleash the Chad.

Jacob will probably only play 20 minutes if that, biggest difference will likely be more minutes for Paulo, which is a good thing.

Dearden to make his debut in the decider. Can’t help but think that could of been Clifford had he stayed under Payten with the way he had him firing before the mid season switch.

What Payten has done this season is unbelievable. We have the best spine behind Penrith this year and that’s something no one would of thought could possibly happen heading into the season.

I was initially thinking that if Origin 3 was refereed like an NRL game, Blues for sure, or if it was refereed like previous Origin's where the ref puts his whistle in his pocket, QLD could win. With Munster out, doesn't matter, take Blues 13+, Blues to cover the line and Tupou, To'o, Cleary, Tedesco to score.

I wonder if they'll consider postponing it if many more Queensland players go down? Bit of a shame that the series is decided like this ... but never write off a Queensland side I suppose.

Yeah that's massive to lose Munster for a decider. QLD will need to play a belter to win now. Freddy has been very questionable this year and now he's in the box seat for a series win which maybe he mightn't have got. But results is the name of the game.

Very interesting call to bring in Dearden, a very young player who’s been good but not exactly brilliant despite playing for the second best team in the comp, behind a supremely dominant pack, for an Origin decider. He’s still learning his craft and of the four players in that Cowboys starting spine, he’s been fourth most influential on results in my opinion.

Not having a go at the kid but we’ve seen time and time again that putting something like this on a player this young and inexperienced can cause long term damage to his career. Factor in also that his halves partner has never put his stamp on an Origin game & has basically been Queensland’s more talented but more cowardly answer to Mitchell Pearce at this level, and it’s a big ask. Basically means it’s all down to Hunt/Grant + Ponga and the job gets harder without the threat of Munster creating extra space for them.

Ben Hunt will almost certainly win the Dally M this year and for me putting him in the halves for the decider would have been a no brainer, especially given his recent Origin form. Either back Harry Grant to play the full 80 or call Reed Mahoney in to take Ben Hunt’s spot on the bench.

Thought this was a really good read about maybe the greatest Origin game ever. Nice to see former greats sit and talk about what actually happened in a game rather than *****ing about rule changes or just talking in generalities about why this or that person is “under pressure”. Wish more rugby league writing was like this.
