Sorry to say but im a Klemmer fan he may not be playing quite as good as he was ( he will be again) but is still better than most. No way in hell would i let him go , our pack has been going thru the opposition most weeks just our finish to sets has been well ordinary really .
Our pack has been doing the job mostly fix the finishes and we will be laughing .

He's not the aggressive firebrand he used to be, maybe he can't do that anymore after playing the game hard for a lot of years now.

He ran 20 times for 206 metres against the Warriors. If you decide to get rid of him, good luck finding another guy who's willing to do all that dirty work week on week.
 
Speaking of Tim Glasby, saw him yesterday at Moffat Beach on the sunny Coast ( I assume he's up here with the storm camp). He looked very thin.

Keep him. If he is your best back you need to take a break from footy.

I cant believe you guys are letting Reynolds go?? In an age where good halfbacks are hard to come by...just seems crazy.
On Gags there a reason he plays winger for Origin for all those years. He not an elite centre and this years series has showed that, even back with his time with us his defence was trash.

As bob dylan once said…the times are a changin …(after Bennett leaves) prob want space to rebuild,…gags is a huge liability in defence, and we also need look at buying some serious speed..wouldnt offer him anything more than 350k 2yr deal.

In a perfect world Reynolds should be a one club man.
It is a combination of everything why Reynolds wasn’t re-signed.
We have a young gun in Blake Taafe who will be 23 next year. He’s not going to wait around forever to get his shot.
Also we have Cody Walker off contact next year which we need money for.
Reynolds still has one of the best kicking game in the comp but for a halfback the other parts of his game is below par.
He only has 2 try assists and 4 line break assists this year.
For argument sakes Gags has 5 try assists and 7 line break assists and he’s not even a half.

Fairenough with the Reynolds situation. Always a younger hungry kid i guess.
For Gags stats dont always show everything, something i believe in nrl thats better then try assist etc is try saves. As a centre or winger is shutting down plays/defusing kicks etc not just attack.

Gags first contact is very iffy but his scramble is very good though.
In fact along our left edge makes up 28% of the tries conceded which is the least in the comp along with Penrith.
We concede twice as many on our right edge.

Thanks for bringing some facts into the discussion mate hahaha. I kept saying he’s not as bad as people say/remember in D. Defending with AJ most of the time too who’s competent but not a big strong dude, and not exactly a Brett Morris-tier try denial machine.

But yeah if Gagai was as bad as people say, Wayne wouldn’t pick him. Mansour offers a lot as a yardage player for example, but he’s clearly in the bad books with Wayne, and I’ll be surprised if the reason isn’t the same reason it always is for him - he’s missing his assignments.
 
Have said it before and will say it again, I don't see why people don't like gagai.

Better than any centre we have and I think he would be a great buy, always liked him.

All depends on price & length I guess.
If he got payed Tuala & Shiba's salary combined for no more than 2 years I would be happy. He'd be an upgrade on those 2 put together.
No player options.

He does create a point of difference in attack that we have been lacking.

Also if he was defending with Friz, Hunt, and Pearce around him I think he would do fine in D.
 
Yeah one thing to note re: the right side conceding more than the left side is that’s pretty consistent across most teams - most teams attack better going right to left, so it’s harder defending on the right. The discrepancy is big enough for Souths that you’d have to conclude that their left sided defence is actually a bit better than the right, but yeah some imbalance is normal.

I like To’a as a prospect but I think most would agree his defensive work on that side isn’t great, especially compared to Hunt who’s probably up there with the best outside backs in the comp defensively. A right edge of experienced, professional campaigners in Frizell, Pearce, Gagai & Hunt should go better than the one we’ve relied on most of this year, Frizell, (various halves), Tuala & To’a. The stats tell us that edge has been our biggest Achilles heel & I’m finding it easier to understand all the chat about right centre being our main recruitment priority, rather than the left wing.

That's way too much. Maybe $900k over 3 years.

I'd go 2 years personally, but $300k/year is good value for a SOO player.
 
Im not worried about Gagai at all If we don't get him Good , If we do then only on the wing . He is one of the first backs picked for Qld so you wont get him for under $500,000 and for that amount i wouldn't be interested .
Even though he is a regular SOO player he is still a bit on the nose to me , for some reason he just doesn't seem to me to live up to the hype about him ...Just my opinion though .
Maybe he is just a big game player .
