Yeah one thing to note re: the right side conceding more than the left side is that’s pretty consistent across most teams - most teams attack better going right to left, so it’s harder defending on the right. The discrepancy is big enough for Souths that you’d have to conclude that their left sided defence is actually a bit better than the right, but yeah some imbalance is normal.
I like To’a as a prospect but I think most would agree his defensive work on that side isn’t great, especially compared to Hunt who’s probably up there with the best outside backs in the comp defensively. A right edge of experienced, professional campaigners in Frizell, Pearce, Gagai & Hunt should go better than the one we’ve relied on most of this year, Frizell, (various halves), Tuala & To’a. The stats tell us that edge has been our biggest Achilles heel & I’m finding it easier to understand all the chat about right centre being our main recruitment priority, rather than the left wing.
