Knights Injury and Suspension Updates

Cupples says of Hodgson in that clip from yesterday that he will return to team training in the next 2-3 weeks and will play "shortly after that".
He also says Hodgson is changing his body shape and composition - which I assume means he is bulking up.
From the sound of it the club is taking their usual conservative approach with rehabing young players. The club seems to rather have young guys in the gym than on the field if there is any hint of injury. Guys like Best, To'a, Sasagi, Jones and Huth have missed a lot of footy with seemingly minor injuries. If Best strains an eyelash, that's a month on the sidelines.
He also says Hodgson is changing his body shape and composition - which I assume means he is bulking up.
Maybe they are getting his body ready for the work load at 5/8, just a guess but with Ponga at the back and Clifford at 7 in 2023. Maybe they have determined thats his best spot , then again maybe not .
He was mostly a f/b i believe so to change his body shape and composition says to me he wont be playing f/b .

I think someone wrote here that while a great running game, he doesn't have much of a passing game. If that's true then it's hard to imagine they're grooming him for five-eighth. He's also known to be a centre. No matter what happens though, it's good business to be developing good young players no matter the position. Not everyone is gonna step up & top 17 rosters change in an instant.

Thats true but it probably wouldn't happen until 2023 , thats plenty of time to fix any possible deficiencies he may or may not have but as i said its just a guess .
1 Ponga , 6 Hodgson , 7 Clifford , 9 Brailey even in 2023 that would still be a young Talented spine , you never know in this game .

Yeah and it’s a huge credit to the Roosters pack and their systems that he’s not getting destroyed every week, that in fact he’s the one tearing teams up. The Chooks put their guys in position to succeed better than almost every other club, in a lot of other teams if an 18 year old is forced to play first grade well ahead of schedule, they’d be absolutely thrown to the wolves. Hell a lot of players get thrown to the wolves even when it’s not an injury-forced inclusion.

Hodgson's profile says he's 182cm and 85kg compared to Watson's 177cm and 89kg.
I suspect Hodgson will be close to 90 kg by now.

He looks smaller than that, but we'll see soon enough.

List is getting smaller with Young and Fitz being cleared and our wingers due back next week!

3 players left to return from injury now for top 17...

Edrick Lee (Foot, Round 9)
Hymel Hunt (Hamstring, Round 9)

Bailey Hodgson (Knee, Round 12)

Mitchell Pearce (Pec, Round 14-16)

Chris Randall (Dislocated Wrist, Indefinite)
Jirah Momoisea (Achilles, Indefinite)

Latest Cupples video says Lee and Hunt next week, Tex and Fitz to play this week in reserves, says Jirah is way ahead of schedule through hard work and could be about a month away.
Pearse has his arm out of a sling but is working on other areas for now - so active rehab hasn't even started yet.
No mention of Hodgson or Randall.

Talking of suspension what about this bloke ...

So if Green is back round 12 or earlier than Pearce what happens in halves if Crosslands is going well does Green play 6 or reserves or does Mann play 6 or right centre or do we drop Crosslands and Green and Mann are 7 & 6, very interesting.
foot note:- assuming no further injuries

Counting injury games missed by squad, 29+5 development total missed is 91 in 10 rounds.
Suggested best backline, Ponga, Toa, Hunt, Best, Lee, Green, Pearce account for 34 of them or 3.4 per match.
forwards Klem, Brailey, DanS, Frizell, Fitz, Barnett and bench Watson, JSaf, Sue, Jones account for 7 all Fitz.
others include Mann 2, Hoy 3, Crossland 4, Young 6, Musgrove 3, Sasagi 2, Saulo 1, Hodgson 10, Momoisea 10 That’s backs 30, forwards 11. Development players = 9
Our backline, 7 players, has been devastated by injuries with nearly half missing each match for 10 rounds.
My selections, my stats, if not accurate it’s close
