He didn’t hit him high. Whoever said he broke Ponga nose is off their face. Ponga was evidently already busted up before then.

The match review was already going to go in hard on him because it was a shoulder charge. If it was a seriously bad one he would of been sent straight to the judiciary like Proctor’s case but evidently because of contact not being high he wasn’t.

There no6 broke his nose with a palm slap to the face as Ponga was falling he should be charged for that . We and other teams have had players charged for hitting people high when they have slipped into a tackle and been hit high , no difference here .
Townsend left the ground to go high and led with the shoulder to try to take Ponga's head off just because he didnt quite hit him as high as he wanted makes no difference the intent not to use arms and leave the ground to go high should be enough for the ****** to not play again this year .. He tried to take out our best player illegally and with great intent , hope they throw the book at the piece of **** .
 
Dont know what's wrong with you people Blocker is a damn fine commentator and dead right most of the time . Id rather listen to him than most of the other numpties that try to commentate other than Johnsy , Sterlo and Fittler the rest are **** .He was harder than any of the pussies playing today and commentates the same way i love it .
 
On the Ponga hit and all the bs from people wanting to defend Townsend. If that same hit occured, and ponga got concussion, or injured, nobody would question the send off. In fact if the ref didnt send him, many of these same people would be whingeing the send off is dead.

You and I both know the NRL punish players in the outcome more so then the intent hence a sending off was not sufficient. Like I said many times already if contact was made high then the sending off comes into the equation.

There is no way in the world his intent would be to take his head off that’s just a classic dramatisation on your behalf.

Couldn’t care less about who did it or when Ponga had his nose busted up as that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the Townsend incident specifically.

The game as a whole has gone soft and the fans alike have followed suit.

Segeyaro did the exact same thing on McKendry when the shoulder charge was legal and not one person came out saying he was trying to take him out of the game or take his head off.

How many times do I need to say if the hit was high a send off would be sufficient. Some of you pick and choose what you want to read out of my posts.

The calls for the send off being dead would be more apt for the Graham spear tackle not for this incident as it happened (no high shot).

Bit hard to blame just Graham for the spear. Sharks played dirty for most that game so thought the sendoff to Townsend was warranted and I feel if that was Slater or JT same outcome. Yes the game has gotten a lot softer but it has needed to for player safety. These days you get taken to court, back then players were too stupid to care.

You’ve indirectly swiped at me for ‘defending’ Townsend when it’s all there to see where I’ve stated if he hits him high there’s no defending it and a send off being sufficient. Doesn’t hit him high so the send off was a over the top reaction.

Segeyaro does the exact same play if he hits him high a send off would be on the cards as well even when shoulder charges were legal.
 
No, i was referring to all the ex players and commentators in the media coming out saying its not a send off. I guess your included in that lot but meh.

If Ponga didnt get up after that hit, the commentary would be very different.

Of course it would be because that would incline he was hit high and deserving of a send off. I don’t get how that’s so hard to comprehend.

Should every shoulder charge be a send off now irrelevant of the fact it hitting high or not?
