Seeing as it's been useless in attack for the last 2 months you're not exactly changing something that is working.
Mann at 9 works, his service is not good but we need his energy. Putting Crossland at 6 removes any excuse Pearce might have, he can kick and pass.

The 8, need to beat teams below us with occasional win against those above, losing to Cowboys and Dogs hurts bad for position on ladder. We cannot keep losing to those teams and expect to make 8. If we had beat those two as was expected then we were a big chance for top 4.

Mann moved from the 6, surely not!
As I've been saying, Mann isn't what we need at 6. Pearce is not good enough to run the playmaking by himself, he needs a genuine 6 (playmaker) next to him.
I've never said Mann is plod, but he isn't what we need in the 6 with our current roster.
For me, the obvious answer is Mann goes to 14. He plays exactly the same role Watson does & should be used the same way. Get him on late in the first half with fresh legs and let him run it up the middle.
Pearce is a bigger issue, I can't see O'Brien dropping his million dollar halfback so he needs to figure out where Pearce is going wrong and fix it. I don't care who it is, Hoy/ Lino/ Crossland but we need a 6. Someone to take some pressure of Pearce & bring us a more rounded game.
Ponga has an attitude issue but we'll need him at fullback against Melb.

Admitted in my its that time of year thread for team dynamics and to take pressure of Pearce(how embarrassing for our $800k captain that this is needed) that a more organizing 6 is required.
Not slamming Mann he has to be out there, Watsons role of general mongrel and busy man would suit him, shame as his been our best spine player that his the one that should be shafted.

I keep repeating myself but I keep saying that I do not expect us to make finals until at least 2021, because it will take a while for Adam O’Brien to settle with his squad.
He was pretty good yesterday, but for a player on his salary he should be doing more. I think we've seen him play 80 minute games 2 or 3 time this year. The other games he really only shows up in the final 20, barely runs the ball back & 9/10 he's running some decoy play with no intention of getting the ball.
If he can back his efforts up for a full game, consistently, the attitude call is on me, but he hasn't proved it yet.

Ponga's problem is he is trying to be both fullback and 5/8 at the same time.
I thought he was good on the weekend. His runs back were dangerous, he nearly got us a try with that grubber that just went dead, twice maybe?
Ponga either needs to concentrate on Fullback, or move to 5/8.

The only thing that irks me about KP is his consistency. He tries hard you can’t fault him there, but you have players like Tedesco, Turbo, Papenhuyzen continually threatening teams week to week with ease. Players used to fear what KP would do to them, now they’ve managed to pick him apart and understand what kind of plays he does and shut him down.

You need two guys out there to share the load, it's just how it works. Only freaks like Joey & JT are above that. Look at Pearcey's premiership win, couldn't ask for a better five-eighth partner in crime than James Maloney at the time.

Ponga can't be that answer playing two positions at once. Mann is a good player, but is not up to taking the reins from Pearce. He is predominantly a ball runner which is not what Pearce needs at 6. When attacking Ponga can't be the support player he should be as he needs to be in the line attacking like a 6. So he can't float around and inject himself where he thinks he should. He is first receiver option. He can't do both roles.

They have been grooming Hoy for 5/8 all season.
If they put Mann at 9, i expect Hoy would go to 5/8.
I wouldn't write off Huth at 14 completely. The little guy has a great passing game and real vision. None of our other options are actually good as a dummy half. I don't think he could do more than 20 or 30 minutes at NRL level at the moment, but he can throw a fast, accurate 20 metre pass both sides and has the vision to pick out the right player to pass to. Better than watching Connor Watson throw a soft pass 3 foot too high to Mitch Barnett on the 5th so Barnett had to put in a rushed kick for no one.
