2020 Pre Season and Trial Games

Credit to the young Roosters squad. They held us out for most of the first half, but it was obvious they just didn't have the experience. Funny thing is they looked and played like our first grade side in 2016.

It would be a big ask for Hoy to step into firsts at 5/8, and deputise at fullback for Ponga during Origin. Not sure if he's quite ready for that pressure yet but stranger things have happened.

We know mate it accounts for 80 percent of your posts. Having a look at Linos physic and the fact his spent the offseason doing squats I guarantee you the hobbit would be destroyed against a Roosters or Eels with their line speed.
Yeah yeah his passing is still better his attack is better and his kicking is better and I haven't seen much difference in defence between them either .
I don't care how fast there line speed is he is still more talented than Mann and fast line speed would do the same for Mann.

It's looking like our bench will be
Watson, Guera, Glasby, Ese.
They're all on around 500k each.
That's a two million dollar bench.

That's really unbalanced considering Klemmer is probably the only player in the starting pack on over $500k.

3 of them are off contract after this season, so might not be that way for long. At least for first few rounds, if Barnett is at 13, then Guerra not on the bench. If Barnett is at 12, then either Glasby or Ese not on the bench.

Looking at the highlights, Sasagi's try was a lot better than it looked in real time. It looked like he had a pretty simple run through a broken defensive line, but in slow motion he turned 3 guys inside out with little sidesteps at full pace.

Obi said in the post match interview that Tex has put himself in contention for the 6.
He said if he had a crystal ball he would have trained him more there in the preseason.
But he said he is probably looking at Kurt for round 1.
Obi has told Tex he needs a lot of work in defence before he can play firsts in the line.

How exciting is our backline in reserve grade - Luke Sharpe, Tex Hoy, Star Toa, Simi Sasagi, Soper-Lawler, Crossland - all of then can score an individual try from anywhere on the ground.

Sounds like Kurt is a dead Mann walking before we’ve kicked a ball. I’d give him 2-3 rounds during which OB will be gearing up Crossland, Tex or Lino. Mann already played himself out.

The best thing this week was the improvement in the young guys in that second half. Having watched the coaches press conference, it’s nice to see that they’re obviously listening to/ learning from him.
Hoping the whistle happy ref isn’t a sign of the season to come tho- some of those holding on penalties (both teams) seemed a little quick.

Henry loves a penalty.

Its amazing how much better the young guys look playing around NRL quality and not an entire team of young guys.

It was a good win against a reserve grade team. Nothing more.

Yes good win but opposition not strong, good hit out and hopefully injury free. Mann is a worry but no one is knocking the door down to replace him, a half back that can play 5/8 and two young inexperienced players, think Mann will get his chance for first few rounds. Some of our big guys went well, Klem, Saf boys, Ese’ese and Barnett with Guerra ok. Brailey looked good.
