Nathan Brown

Just sounds like Ross is a sook. Looking at the 2016 squad again and wow what a mess. I feel like Brown has been pushed but he’s the one that’s wanted to announce it immediately, you can see in the press conference he’s bitter. Strategically not a bad move to announce it now, the players get up and put 3 together then anything can happen after that I suppose.

Would be interesting Griffin taking the job. He can coach, supposed to be a do it all yourself guy who doesnt need a lot of support staff.

Candidates are dropping fast and if O'Brien says no, running out of good options.

I dont have time at work to listen to that, just tell us!

Your holding out on us.

Just says some players need to be cuddled and told it’s ok. He’s obviously not a fan of him, but made interesting remarks about the assistant coach. Only goes for a few minutes mate.

He said that maybe Brown is more suited to the assistant coach's role because they're more about the actual coaching side while the head coach has to be more of a man manager. And that their video review sessions were more about the negatives & what they need to do better rather than positive reinforcement like what they've done well.

Brown has never been able to just give a young bloke a compliment. When suggested a player had a good game it's always yes but he needs to do that more than once, he's got a few issues which we're working on etc etc. Yes everyone will say but they're well paid adults. I don't care who you are or what you do being told you've done well every now and then is a good thing.

We will have a reasonable roster when we get a quality 5/8, at least bone new centre. a couple of props and a lock. Was hopeful Ese'ese would as back up for Glasby but his defense close to the line was not so good.

I'm not saying what he did was okay or acceptable. But he would be an IDEAL coach for our young team, and think it will fit well

For sure. Over five years ago before he was caught or known to be cheating.

Bit of a sad situation, but we all knew this probably had to come. I'm sure the next coach will be given the reigns on the idea that he doesn't need to tear everything down, just add a few new touches. Certainly won't help anybody if we go through another rebuilding phase of accepting mediocrity for a few seasons because the coach is still building his team. It was nice to hear Browny say he'll have some pride to see us win a premiership in the next few years, he's an honest bloke & gave it his all so he has a lot of my respect. Glad he gets to finish the year off in a respectful fashion hopefully with his players giving their all for the last remaining games, will feel like real closure rather than the messy way coaches usually get sacked on the spot with no chance to say goodbye.

Will be interesting times, a new voice to take the squad to another level, wonder what this means for guys who were previously on the outer?

Brown did some good things and some bad things - like everyone.
The best case scenario is that the new guy will be able to use the good recruiting Brown did, and develop all the young talent Tinkler's money and Troy Pezet's recruiting has brought us, and have a really good couple of years.
I'm pretty optimistic that the right coach has been gifted a window of opportunity to see us challenge for a title in his time at the club.

To be fair Baz only gives the right story after it's happened he never gives scoops prior.

Sure, but I’d rather his accuracy then throwing a turd at a wall like every other journo does or making things up out of thin air like Kent or Crawley does.

When it comes to an out of Sydney club like us it’s hard to believe everything you see and hear on the mill and 99% of the rumours are false.

He does often speculate certain things when replying on twitter but I am okay with his style as he doesn’t answer anything he is not solid on.

He was one of the few that said Through third hand information that Klemmer would not be opposed to relocating to Newcastle if he was squeezed out of the Bulldogs because of their cap situation when others like Napa had zero interest.

I had a listen to what ross said and Eh I don’t feel like what he said added anything meaningful.

He basically backhand complimented Brown saying he was better suited to an assistant rather then a head coach because of the way he has handled different players, and rugby league is different now with management. But he did credit him for leaving the roster in better shape then he got him and getting the Knights to attract big names which usually never happens so often.
That part I kinda agreed with pretty much.

His criticisms were (and I strongly disagreed with this bit) that he believed he (Brown) was too hard on his players during video review when he (Ross) was there and well...no **** we won one game. How are the players going to learn if we keep saying good job get em next week? Barnett/Saifiti/Fitz would definately not have...
He said he felt they could have been more positive and focussed on things they did well...When you win one game hmmm...

That was the gist of it

2016 squad was ordinary but no worse than the Dogs this year. They've won a few more games than we did.

Slots are you forgetting that Brown had to sack players left, right and centre and basically professionalise a pub team? Ofcourse his task was going to be much harder and he was going to get a lot of resentment.

In brown presser he said when he arrived the culture at the club was around boozing and nightclubs and very poor standards.

Hopefully he has set that right, and along with a tough stance by Wests on off field behaviour we can become a professional outfit.

The Bulldogs weren’t also 700k over the cap for the following year with the roster they had. Hence why we needed to luck out with Snowden and McManus retiring etc

If we don’t make the 8 I think it was probably the right choice although that depends on who we end up with.

But if we make the 8 I think they should have given him another year.

No way the rebuild was finished as we definitely do not have a Top 4 squad.
