Nathan Brown discussion

This is rather disappointing tbh.

Going to be another 3yrs of chit again.

No real stand out coaches available that dont come with baggage.
A list of players that came here for Browns vision that mite also leave.

Not sure if I'll even bother with the game next year, kinda over it as is with all the chit from the boardroom running thr show to the refs running agenda after agenda.
Might be abit early to make that call.

Wests aren’t the type of organisation that make decisions on a whim. I’d imagine the players were a major consideration when making the decision.

Brown is a great bloke and obviously fantastic on the recruitment side of things. Whether he’s a top level coach or not? I’m not sure.

Some of his decisions with game plans and team selection have been off this year and this was the year he needed to turn the side into a contender.

He’s left the side in a strong position like he did with St George. He should be proud of what he’s done. The good does outweigh the bad for mine.

Well said, sad but had to be done, lets hope Wests get the best available and not try to unearth the next superstar coach.

Hopefully Woolfe doesn't take over.

Is it coincidental that just as Woolf is linked with the St Helens top job Brown gets tapped on the shoulder? Maybe a sign of Wests encouraging Woolf to stay?

The rumour doing the rounds after the Titans game was the senior players approached Brown not happy with things. Woolfe's input increased dramatically during the week leading up to the Eels game. Might've been a long way off the mark who knows.

Hallelujah the board has acted. Browns’ kiss of death was the teams performance against Manly after we dropped 4 players. I am hoping that the knights go after Shane Flanagan, he is the best coaching option.

Wests aren't silly, i think given they've announced it they will have plans in place. Surely

Do you think they’re going to sack brown with no idea who is coming here? Lol our coach is picked whoever that might be.

Haven't seen any rumours going around about Wests sniffing around for a replacement coach, so unless it's an internal appointment it's a very real possibility.

If they've managed behind the scenes to convince Bellamy to leave the Storm at the end of this year to come here I'd be thrilled.

AAP reporting:

Roosters assistant coaches Craig Fitzgibbon and Adam O'Brien have emerged as early favourites for the post.

Queensland coach Kevin Walters has repeatedly stated his desire for a club coaching job and served as the Knights' halves coach in 2014 under Wayne Bennett.

And consistently only some players on the bench for 10-15 minutes a game.

I agree that Brown solved our salary cap problem and quickly rebuilt our roster. In short he turned our club around

i'd wash gardners car and do all his house chores for 10 years if they managed to pull that off!

This is what bothers me the most,
His done all the hard yards and todays world expect results instantly.

Yes on paper our roster is good, though beside a handful of them, most are still learning each others style of footy.

A new coach will come in with very high expectations and mite not like a few of the players we have, so he'll then have to reshape everything to how he wants it and who he wants doing it.

I'd have given Brown until mid Next year to have everything in motion as he visioned it and if it was still failing? Then the situation we're in now would happen.

This decision probably comes down to keeping KP. We don't know the inner workings of the club, what discussions the board have had with Brown, or the players with Brown etc. The key to keeping KP apparently is moving the club in to a position to win a premiership and if he does not think Brown is the coach to get the job done, or if Wests flinch first and don't think he can get the club there, then better to make the call early.

Giving Brown another season, or half season just moves the club further in to the contracts of Pearce, Klem and Ponga and we all know contracts aren't worth anything if a player isn't happy.

It's a bad sign when senior players have to approach the coach not happy with how things are going. It's a bad sign we had to let Ramien go (who knows, maybe he will stay now, but doubtful), it's a bad sign Brown can't settle on a spine!

Then there is Browns man management which I believe will come out was poor. How he treated Levi when Griffin arrived was a sign of how he deals with people. Lino another, Lino was warming up on field in the 6 jumper, yet when the team ran out he wasn't in the team anywhere. Completely replaced, no injury.

Bench rotation was mind boggling sometimes. I remember he selected Rossdog once after he had a stint in lower grades, only to leave him on the bench and he only got on the field because a player got injured.

I'm glad they made the call early.

i dont understand why they make this public now, if we dont have a coach already or ready to sign i cant see the point of the timing. im hopeful this has been thought out and we have it sorted already behind closed doors. only way the timing makes sense to me

Ahhh so that’s where the Mole stole his rumour from.

I reckon he was always going to get the year we owed him for doing the job the club asked him to do, but chances are that Wests have been succession planning for life after Brown since they took over the club. They have already moved on all his handpicked staff and brought in their own.
