Knights Injury and Suspension Updates

If he is good to go in a couple of weeks and he was able to play without showing any lack of movement, it must not have been a major ligament.
There are literally dozens of ligaments in the feet and ankles, some of them pretty important, and some not.
It sounds like pain was the issue - not any restriction of movement or anything - he was still running and stepping as good as anyone.

Good overall update from Tony re where Tautau, Slade, Jacob and Ross are at and how they are progressing/what stage they are at...

Tautau sounds really positive, Slade has a long way to go but I'd never right off his toughness...but if he does get back on the field it won't be in 2019 for mine, bit of a worry that they think there is a bit of possible underlying nerve damage for Jacob and Ross is going under the knife to see if they can fix some of his underlying groin/pelvis issues

Newcastle Knights

Kalyn Ponga underwent ankle surgery in mid-September and was ruled out of contention for Australia's Test squad.

Ponga is expected to be fit for the pre-season in November, while Nathan Ross, who had groin surgery, is set for a two-month lay-off period.

He's set to miss the first fortnight of 2019 preparations before returning to full fitness by December.

Tautau Moga continues his rehabilitation from a knee reconstruction and will join the squad for training in November.

Slade Griffin faces between nine and 12 months out of the game after with a knee injury.

Jacob Saifiti(shoulder) is expected to be fine for pre-season training in November.

Sam Stone missed the final of the emerging nations cup - I assume with injury since he was the only NRL player in the team. No word on what was wrong with him.

Newcastle Knights

Knights trio Kalyn Ponga, Connor Watson and Danny Levi are all making strong progress in their return from injury.

Ponga has started running again following an ankle injury that required surgery while Watson is expected back at training in December after going under the knife to repair a groin injury.

Levi had surgery on his back in the off-season but is not expected to miss much training as he completes his recovery.

Levi having back surgery 2 years in a row is a worry.
We have 1 firstgrade hooker who should be ready to go for round 1, but you never know with back surgery, he might take a year to get over it.

Should we have been looking at a Segeyaro rather than a Woolford or possibly both, Levi's back is a worry, is Levi's back and Woolfords lack of experience, Griffs injury why we resigned Buhrer and see how we are beginning of 2020.

For mine Frank I see Lino as the 'go to' man for Levi's cover. Levi did not hav e a good 2018 and this ongoing back injury does ot look at all good.

As a halfback Lino averages 5 missed tackles a game in reserve grade.
The last time the knights played the Warriors in reserve grade Lino missed 11 tackles as Brodie Jones stomped all over him.
If he can't handle Brodie Jones on the edges - no way will he be able to defend in the middle against Fifita, Gallen, Burgess etc.

Yeah, going into the season with two 25 year olds who have never played hooker in their lives as our only hooker options sounds brilliant.
Buhrer and Watson might be able to share the hooker role if Levi can't play, but Lino and Mann are fantasies.

I’m not saying I like the idea I’m saying this is what they are looking at or were not sure anymore

Lino is Samoan and as a half/five eighth could do a Buderus and make rake his own. Maybe Billy you have the same opinion of Samoans as you published about Kiwis not having a dig in this forum?
