Would love Denniss to do a Fitzgibbon and go from one of our worst to one of our best every week. Could turn out to be a great centre in a few years with his big frame and ability to Gidley flick. Was just blooded into firsts way too early and no one had even heard of him. Has a big challenge against Jennings this week but it’s his first opportunity in nearly two years so it should give him confidence.

While it appears true that the Referees decisions are winning games, our actions can minimise their effect
  1. "Sir, I am on side , right to go ? " - engages the Ref to call you out early - No Penalty.
  2. If you are called "offside " make the extra effort to get back early - Engage the Ref and then get involved - No Penalties
  3. Take the extra step back to the Try line - again engage the Ref - No Offside/ moving early Penalties
  4. Don't over run the ball - Eliminates the forward pass
  5. Lock up the ball carrying arm not the ball - Eliminates Penalty
  6. Stand behind the first Marker at the PTB - again engage the Ref - No Marker Penalties

All seems so simple when you say it like that :)

So simple but so bloody hard. All that within defending and watching plays. Their brains must really hurt sometimes.

Also much easier on a laptop/phone rather than in the middle of a footy game with fatigue and frustration.

88' that is exactly what fatigue training involves , incorporating process required for normal situations right through to a fatigued state to ensure you react/function subliminally as programmed.

Not easy for sure, you have to train hard for it and while you make exceptions it will never succeed.

Yeah - I get STs point though that it is the basic 1%'ers that are killing us (and exacerbating that by causing the fatigue factor, frustration, etc.).

The basic premise of making us competitive is really about establishing a base line of getting these things right all the time as a starting point - this is what the good teams do well.

Once we can do that consistently, we then increase our possessions and completions, reduce the fatigue and give us the building blocks to execute our game plan. Lapses may occur but our capacity for resilience is impacted by compounding our errors...again, it does sound simple but it is the teams that build a platform of doing it consistently in a game that differentiate between the top 4-6 teams and those that make up the numbers.

Based on what Brown has been saying, they are showing it on the training paddock but not bringing it on game day....how you now tackle that mental issue is also the responsibility of the Coach and his staff but it is a lot tougher getting a team to get it right mentally when they are in the thick of it. I don't envy their job but it is what they have signed on for

Yes and than you flog teams to hard in the pre season AKA warriors and Tigers, and see them falling over themselves a 3rd of the way into the season after hitting their straps in the first few weeks.

It is not about flogging them all the time, it is about training to respond under fatigue as a reflex action not a thought process.

Really? I’ve rated him more as a winger than a fullback. Either way he’ll probably tear us to shreds.

Not saying he's a better fullback than winger, just that French at fullback is worse for us than French on a wing IMO. If he's roaming around the ruck and backing up half breaks I fear he will tear us to shreds, as you suggest mate.

Just watched the press conference with Cory Denniss, he seems like a very impressive young guy it seems like he has been putting in a lot of hard work.
