Leeson Ah Mau

Question, do we consider JSaf for first grade, based on form, ability etc IF he didn't have a brother named DSaf, or are we pandering to a "take us both or none" attitude.
Question 2. Because we pander does that mean other players, King, lose a bit of heart because they see other obstacles in way of grade.
Question 3. The talk of "play us both together" is all about one dragging the other along.
Brought this up as I don't believe either Safiti is playing as they should/could and wonder if selection is based on not upsetting brothers, if JSaf wants to play 1sts and play with brother he should perform accordingly. Have no doubt DSaf deserves first grade spot, JSaf??? On current form/performance

If a player loses heart for not being picked in first grade they are pussy's and can nick off.

Jsaf been a huge flop in firsts this year and apparently didn't have a go in nsw cup. Attitude quickly becoming a concern

A huge flop is harsh
3 games he has played
Rd2 - 31mins 7runs 79m 17tks 2mt

Rd3 - 28mins 4runs 32m 16tks 0mt

Rd4 - 32mins 6runs 58m 16tks 1mt

So 93minutes of footy for 17runs 171m 49tks 3mt

Also 2 of those games rd3 and rd4 we got flogged and at least 5-10 minutes of his time on field were behind the posts after tries.

If i did the same stats for Heighington and Lillyman over the same minutes they are behind jacob.

So Ah Mau is of a similar quality to King (who’s currently not in first grade and never gets named on the extended bench) and Jacob Saifiti (who can’t cement a regular first grade bench spot despite only having competition of the old over the hill Heighington and Buhrer who’s playing completely out of position in the middle third)?

Ok. Agree to disagree. Big time.
Yeah Honestly I don't think Ah Mau is that much better than anyone we have, sure you could argue he's better but I'm just pointing out in the scheme of things Ah Mau isn't that big an upgrade. for me He's no better than Dan or Herm, but better than Jake & King (for now). I actually rate King he hits really well but he's a bit undersized.

The thing to remember with the Twins is they have shown in the two years of grade they've played they take a while to get going, Dan didn't start playing well until we played the Titans the second time and Jake not until we played Manly. But by the end of the year they were both killing it.

No they aren't.
Besides, if he's playing short minutes he should be going harder.

Lillyman 192 minutes, 41 runs for 366m, 91 tackles 5 missed
Jsaf 93 minuts 16 runs for 165m, 42 tackles 3 missed
that's foxsports.

even on a per minute basis jsaf is behind

4 runs in 28 minutes off the bench is having a laugh

4 runs in 28 minutes with at least 5 minutes standing behind the goal posts.
Common sense slots.

Your stats of Lillyman hows that if Jacob is huge flop so is Lillyman and Heighington is also...

His brother showed what can be done in a short burst n the weekend.

Big difference being on the field with a team winning the middle and a team being dominated.

2 of jacobs game we got hammered and by the time he got on the field it was to late and the game was over tbh.

Now i think both the twins should be doing better, though saying Jacob is a huge flop is harsh when by each minute he's numbers are on par or better than 2 guys in front of him.

They will both get better as the season goes on much like last year

If we compare Jsaf round 1 v Warriors to Jsaf round 26 v Sharks you'd think he was a different player.

We have no 'huge flops' or 'garbage' players in our squad.

Sure some are down a bit on form and that is natural. No player nor side can maintain GF winning form all year. Neither twin has started the year in top gear, but they will improve. They can't all do a Fitzy and grow an extra leg. And front row is a grinding, tough position to play without the glory or speed of the halves and outside backs.

Stats are sometimes mis leading and don't always tell the story, perfect example is RCG he isn't near the top of the hitups or metres gained but he is just about the first prop picked for NSW by most people atm.

Stats? In fairness to anyone being compared with others the time on the field with or without the ball matters, no ball lots of tackles, with ball lots of runs, time on field matters, starting is tough, on in 20+mins against tired opposition. It all effects stats, best indicator watch the game and see.

I actually said at the en of last year that it would not suprise me to see Dan and jake not go up another level this yr... i was hammered for it.

Its a huge ask for 20yr old kids to be the dominant leaders of a forward pack in a park side and 5x harder at nrl level.
Dan carried our team in the middle last yr and i have no issue with him or jake being a little flat atm.

Id still very much love to see them both be our starting front row with Ese at lock, imo with a big rev up from Browny that mite just put the fire in the belly for them to go out and be monsters.
This week VS a huge storm pack would be the ideal time to give them that incentive.

If the storm dominant the middle from the kick off we will be in for a long night, our D although improved is still not upto being on the back foot and parked in our own half tackling all night.

Dan wasn't even bad on Saturday, he wasn't as impactful as he has been at his best, but he worked hard & made solid runs, he tried to hurt a couple guys in defence too.

Dragons page claiming he wil sign a 3-4 year deal with us. Dragons couldnt match our offer, nothing official though

I do t see him as a bench forward and feel he is best as a starting 40-50 minute prop. Maybe thats his issue?

The thing that he brings to us that is worth the $ is the aggression he plays with - that stuff inspires players around him. We need that. The Saifitis would be unstoppable if they played as agro as him, but they just seem to bump into the line, spin over and play the ball, saying “sorry” if they hurt the opposition.
