Rumour: Knights interested in John Bateman

Bateman is 10 times the player of Wardle though.

Having lived in the UK I saw a lot of ESL. Wardle had never been more then a stock standard top grade player before making the move to the NRL. He was never going to be a success.

Batemen has always had that talent. Just don't think he has the dimensions of the modern day NRL backrower. In my opinion he could be turned into a lock if he came out. I wouldn't be throwing him to the wolves out at centre in the NRL though.

Bateman would need 8-10kg to be a lock in the nrl, like Barnett also needs another 5kg.
Thats why i think Kings build and hitting in D would make him a good lock.
Kings profile says 187cm 102kg but looking at him i think his closer to 108-110kg

Barnett is arguably the best forward at the club. And hes also probably the youngest forward in the 17.. or maybe there is a year in it?

He's a cornerstone lock who has every attribute under the sun needed to be a good lock. He makes over 100m a game and carries defenders post impact (king does not). Barnett is agressive and effective in defense, he has an offload, and is a leader. He is smart and works hard and has some magic in him

If he improves at all in 2018 he will be a rep quality middle forward. And he'll be our lock for a long time to come. His weight is fine imo. A couple extra kgs wouldn't hurt i agree. But his current weight isn't a problem at all

I must've missed all these Josh King bone-rattlers that are all the rage.
 same

Legit the kid is odds on to play maybe another dozen FG games for the rest of his career and ppl are banging on about him with the most fanciful optimism i have seen since I said that Mamo was a better prospect that Munster a couple years back

Totally disagree buddy,
Halfway into last season i wanted him dropped, he got a new contract and went mia for about 6wks.

His 24yrs old this yr, stats say he averaged 11runs 87m 35tks 2.2missed a game.
He got best player award which was a joke.
Dsaf was head and shoulder the best player last yr and the best forward at our club.

To be fair to Mamo, Munster was developed in a vastly superior team and support system and would have found it difficult to not succeeded there.
Slot Mamo in the Storm side and he probably would have gone up another level.

King will either have a breakout season and demand selection, or fall by the wayside and someone else will step up.

He played whilst needing a shoulder reco for the best part of the year.

His real average is over 100m. That means if you disreagrd the couple of games he retired injured, or whatever else. They guy will run for 100+ a vast majority of the time. Same can be said for D saf too

Keep in mind he only just finished his 2nd yr in FG. And did so carrying an injury. Still won best award for best forward.

He'll go to another level this year

I wonder what the next Cameron Smith is up to these days.

Yeah said it before Barnett started season on fire, busted his shoulder and had a week or two off and wasn't the same afterwards.

Lmao i said that before he debuted in FG. Was horny af for a hooker post Bedsy. Forgive a man for his sins... and innuendo

Can i get an amen @Beaumont ?

I think we will see improvements in some of our regular 1st graders from last year due to the additional strength we have acquired and the result of experience. Barnett and King will be in that lot, easier when they have that experience around them that players like Lillyman, Guerra and Heighinton bring. Not saying they will be in 1sts as regulars probably play less than 2017 but they should be better, expect them to be in top 21 each week barring injury.

I don’t remember said bone-rattlers either, but it was extremely satisfying seeing King annihilate Korbin that one time let’s be real. :giggle:

I refuse to read the back pages to see what I wrote about this guy.
I suspect we were all wrong.

Looks as though I was the only one on the money. Where’s all these juniors that were preferred over him a couple years ago?

The guy has always been a stud and even proven me wrong to a degree at backrow but I knew he was good enough for the NRL. Like I said I saw a lot of him while I was in the UK.

He would kill at at lock full time as well if needed. Just gets the job done.
