Lol rito mate having a shot at me for having an opinion, quality stuff champion.
Everyone must have very short memories as youre all basing your judgment of widdop on his past 7 games this season...
Last year he was absolutely pathetic, every time he got the ball in the attacking zone he kicked it. Of course when its a contract year he steps it up and plays out of his skin.
Another factor; he's playing behind a much better pack this year. Which he won't have at the Knights

Give him a one year contract then. I've said it plenty of times but we need a playmaker we will not win games with the crap we currently have in our halves.

Big bodies are important but name one team that has ever been successful that has had 2 poor halves? The only one I can think of is Parra in 09 with Hayne in unbelievable touch.

We could sign the Australian front row, have great go forward but we'll still finish near the bottom because we have nobody capable of putting on points. Most of tries come out of opportunity rather than set plays. We are crying out for a decent ballplayer or someone capable of forcing a repeat set.

Widdop was great the year before, though.

Last year was down to really poor coaching imo. For some reason the halves weren't playing direct enough, the forwards were running poorly timed decoys and Benji was the main organiser. They were a mess.

Thats exactly what im saying though mate. We need to get our priorities straight. Signing a half like widdop would be good if we had the same forward pack strength of say st george or cronulla. But at the moment add widdop to our side this year and wed be last still.

The lsst thing we need is another half who comes in and cops a tonne of heat when hes got his arms tied behind his back due to zero go forward.

Get us graham kasiano akouola luke lewis and widdop and that sounds better. But a huge money half can't be our priority until our forwards are sorted

Another half? I assume you're referring to Hodkinson?

Hodkinson was very limited to begin with but whether it's injury or lack of effort he's been abhorrent for us. Widdop on his worst day is 10 times the player Hodko is. If we sign a quality International like Widdop we can sign some decent forwards off the back of him. The guy has been the best half in the comp this year and if he continues on his current form line will pick up the Dally M. He'd be a marquee signing.

We need to throw the kitchen sink at him and try and keep it on the down low. I'm sick of every player being linked with signing here only for us to end up looking stupid.

When the dragons bubbles burst... which will be when Vaughan gets injured or is in the nsw team... watch widdop fall back to earth.

I do expect them to plateau abit but it won't be due to a front rower not playing. Everyone is doing their job for St George atm and Widdop is the conducter. He's playing brilliantly and will continue to do so.

Thoughts on tui lolohea? He's definetly got the talent but I'm not sure if he has the ticker for a team like us. Would be cheaper than most other halves on the market to and considering he's playing reggies at the moment he might be more inclined to secure a 1st grade spot.

Wont be in reggies next yr with foz leaving. Lazy thinks his made it already attitude aint a good player for us

If st george were going how everyonr expected them to this season noone on here would mention a bloke like widdop. 9 out of 10 games the blokeis extremely ordinary and because hes thrown a bunch together playing well we should "throw the kitchen sink at him". I'll make my judgement off a career worth of what ive seen in regards to widdop not 7 rounds of football.

A serious option for us could now be matt frawley. We could get the bloke potentially for 300k, brown has seen first hand the way he can play when he led dogs to victory against us. Now foran is a dog there's no room for frawley. Although he plays a very similar game to lamb i wouldnt be suprised if he came to us

Oh FFS!

I didn't see anybody tying his hands and feet when we get in to good attacking position and he does nothing, time and again. 88' posts his little vid of Hodkinson chipping across to Ross to illustrate that he can put up a bomb FFS!

The guy is not getting the job done, period. Sure, our forwards suck also thats no in doubt. But when we get ourselves in to good field position, like plenty of times last week, we come up with nothing.

You guys make it sound like if we don't get any production from our forwards that the halves get a "get out of gaol free" card for the entire match regardless.

Scenario: We get a penalty on our 40m line and kick it in to touch to their 40. We are starting our attacking set on their freaking 40m line, work our way to their 10 - goal line to complete our set and come up with nothing.

Who is at fault here for the result of that set?

I really don't see how this side of the argument is too hard to comprehend! Yes, our forwards are ****e, but so are our halves. Hodkinson predominantly.

In a few of the games this year, if we did a few things smarter in attack we would have won. Does Brown sit in the presser saying geez our halves tried their best but if only our forwards made 20 more metres each we would have won this one!

We need to sign a decent half, AND several decent forwards.
