Maybe toohey mite have some info?

Cant give away anymore info at this time sorry.

That would be great, it would give the club a lift and each big name we sign makes it easier to sign the next one.

Coach Nathan Brown has confirmed Cronulla's Jack Bird spoke with @NRLKnights on Sunday ... he'd be a great signing if they can pull it off.

Sharks star Jack Bird meets with Newcastle Knights officials

CRONULLA State of Origin star Jack Bird has shown he is seriously considering a lucrative offer from the Newcastle Knights after meeting with club officials for a second time on Sunday.

Less than 24 hours after helping Cronulla to a narrow one-point win over the Knights on Saturday in the Shire, Bird made the trip up to Newcastle for lunch with Knights coach Nathan Brown and head of football Darren Mooney.

It is the second time he has held informal talks with the Knights after Bird met with Brown during the pre-season when he was in Newcastle for the All Stars game.

It is understood the Knights have tabled a three-year deal worth more than $2.4 million and have told Bird he will be able to play in his more favoured position of five-eighth if he links with the club.

Brown described Bird as a potential marquee signing who could help take the club forward.

“Jack will make his decision over time and we’d obviously love him to come but where he goes and what he does, we are no further down the track than we were two or three weeks ago,” Brown said.

Brown is optimistic the Knights performance against the Sharks on Saturday won’t have hurt the club’s chances but claims he has no idea which way Bird would go with the Sharks keen to retain him and Parramatta also weighing in with a big offer.

“I think the fact we competed well, I would like to think that Jack Bird would think, if he was on our side, he could have helped us do a little better,” Brown said.

“From a recruitment point of view, the fact we have obviously improved a lot on last year, it can only help us.

“But I wouldn’t know how long Jack will take to make a decision.

“People often ask me do you think you are a chance and I’d say the fact we have had a meeting with him, we are a rough chance but how good a chance are we — he doesn’t give much away, Birdy.”

You'd have to think the plan would be Bird/Lamb rather than Bird/Hodko. Ever since Brown got here he's made it clear Lamb was a big part of our future, and he hasn't really done anything to mess that up so far in first grade.

So he's met with us twice now, that's got to show a slight interest from him at least and not just to entirely bump up his value at Cronulla. Ponga only needed the one meeting. Would love Bird and I've got my fingers and toes crossed.

There's no way Hodko plays reserves next year and with Ponga coming no option to move Bird or Lamb to fullback so Brock is the odd man out ......

I'd love to have Bird but not if it means Lamb doesn't play ......

I still can't see Bird coming, I reckon the Sharks are promising him the 5/8 spot when Jimmy leaves or retires ......

Barry Toohey said Hoffman is not in our plans .....

I can't really see many other experienced forwards on the market who would benefit us?

Does anyone have any idea who the English props are that Brown is keen on ? My guess are Amor and Walmsley ??

Brown has no problem tapping guys on the shoulder and pointing them to the door.
He'll probably be able to find Hodko a nice house to rent in Huddersfield too.
We're a side crying out for experience do you really think Brown will get rid of one of only experienced player ?

He just got rid of 1400 games last yr.
Exactly and now he's trying to bring in experienced guys cause the side needs some guys to learn off. I'm not saying it's right or wrong I'm just saying I don't think he'll get rid of Hodko. Plus most of the experienced guys who left wanted out !!!
