Auckland Nines Discussion

He gets bagged if he stays on his wing for not getting involved, he gets bagged for running across the field looking for space. As long as his cross field running isn't going backwards i think it's good for us, keeps the defence on edge.

Besides the injury to Mullo I think there were plenty of positives..

* Mamo was brilliant except for a silly error in the last game

* McKinnon looked good

* Leilua was outstanding

* We made the Quarter Finals

* Mason was heavily involved when on the field and broke his try scoring drought

* Clydsdale looked good

* Before Injury Mullen was dominating

* Rochow played well and is improving all the time

* Tetevano had some very strong runs and looks fitter

* Jeremy Smith made some nice runs and broke the line a few times and seemed more involved

Obviously it wasn't the best way to end a tournament like this, but as @rhugh89 said, there are plenty of positives that can be taken out of this both for the Knights and the NRL. Firstly, what a fantastic and exciting concept for the NRL and it's fans. Not only is it a great way to make the game more global but it's also a great way to let clubs blow out the cobwebs and gel, including trials, before the season starts. Secondly, the amount of talent that we have at our club at the moment is unbelievable with the likes of Jake Mamo, Adam Clydsdale, Korbin Sims, Matt Minto, Sione Mata'utia all impressing us in the 9's/Goannas trial. With Origin and rep football we have these guys who can easily fill the void for our missing players. Thirdly, with the speculation that surrounded the nines throughout the start of the year and late last year we can all say that it's lived up to our expectations - the crowd, the atmosphere, the tournament itself and not to mention seeing Freddy Fittler take that intercept. I personally believe that the 9's will be and is much bigger than the NRL All Stars v Indigenous All Stars (even though this too is a great aspect of the game) and I hope in future that this continues as it has entertained all us NRL fans immensely!

And by the looks of things, the form of Leilua, McKinnon, Rochow, Mullen (besides his injury) and Roberts in this tournament are all going to have stellar seasons.

Disappointed that we're out of the comp now but hope Mullo will be ok. But the way he dropped to the ground he looked like he'd been shot.

Before we hear calls for it to be banned cause of players getting injured. They can easily happen in trial games that mean nothing.

For the record I hope the Warriors take it out now.

Clydsdale doing a seemless job was probably the most important thing to come out of the nines.
It was a high pressure job for a dummy half. More pressure than a regular game for a hooker to deliver clean and crisp ball from dummy half, and he delivered well. I think Waddell, and maybe even Gidley, wouldn't have been as effective.

Poor old Warriors can't even win the comp designed specifically for them. Cheering for the Cowboys in the final, don't want Brisbane to win anything, even this.

How awful was Johnson in that last game.

Story of his career, Goes from one extreme to the other..

Brilliant at times and awful other times...

Very inconsistent, But if he finds consistency he will be one of the best players in the world..

The Cowboys are performing strong. Want them to beat big brother.
