Who will Bennett axe, retain & recruit for 2013?

I was talking with my bulldogs fan mate today and I mentioned the stag and romelo deal that might be happening and he was cut that they might be losing them but he really was more cut about romelo idk to much about him but my mate says romelo is good

Funny thing is when I posted about holding our dollars till next year, not ONE of them players I actually wanted, I had people like Graham, Johnson, Fafita, Woods, maybe Ryan James, Fensom and a few others, solid young and well established 1st graders with big futures.

There are a lot of good young props off and a couple of good halves depending on how ours go, this is all info I read on zero tackle so if any of it is wrong info well there's the source.
We don't want a repeat of not having enough for a big name again, If we were patient we could have had Lewis if we wanted to get him instead of Scott, I see this happening again If we go jumping at the first big name that wants out or is looking at other options and then Shaun Johnson explores the market and the Warriors cant retain him due to not organizing their books and we all know the hard on Joey has for him! we could throw Joe a full time mentoring role and have a dynasty that would see us well into the future even after Bennett and all our greats move on. huh! end rant!

Totally agree, all off-contract at end of next season.

Matthew Scott (28 )
Johnathan Thurston (30)
Greg Inglis (26)
Sam Burgess (25)
James Tamou (25)
Mitchell Pearce (24)
Robbie Farah (29)

The only player that I'd see leaving their club would be Pearce and possibly Tamou. But for Newcastle, I doubt it.

Read an article on the courier mail that If parra Don't get Ricky Stuart, a bid for Rick stone is a possibility.

I really hope stone stay's at the knights, he's a great coach and a great guy. I am hoping He is around to take the rains back from Bennett when he moves on.

I really think that would be a terrible thing to do. Sure, Stone is probably better than Kearney, but he's not the coach they're looking for.

What's Daniel Andersen doing nowadays haha?

The Knights have begun clearing the decks for next season with Wes Naiqama released from the final year of his deal and young back-rower Kyle O'Donnell set to join the Penrith Panthers.

Strong centre Junior Sa'u is also on the outer and expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Sharks enforcer Jeremy Smith has been offered a deal to join the Knights, subject to gaining a release from the final year of his deal with Cronulla.

Smith wants out on compassionate grounds.

KOD still has a lot of potential, but he's really not a Bennett style forward.
He gives away penalties and makes mistakes at an alarming rate.
Some coaches will forgive him that because of the impact he can have, but not Bennett.

KOD, does that somehow stand for anti-climax or something along those lines?

O well, moving right along...

All our rejects go to Penrith yet you never hear Buzz slam them for taking our players.

I'm grateful for Penrith taking all of our rejects, I don't know what they we're thinking letting Lewis go without a good fight and getting rid of Gordon. They're pretty much a Newcastle reserve grade side now!

It's crap how Rothfield can continually rip into us about recruiting players yet you never hear him mention anything about other sides apart from the Roosters occasionally because he hates Smith.

There was no use Penrith putting up a fight to keep Lewis He didn't want to be there. I know Lewis is a very good player but imagine the fuss if Inglis, Smith, Slater, Gallen et etc went on the market. Sure Lewis would have been a good signing but @ 500K a season ?

I as you know am a big Mullen detractor but i will give credit when it is due and Mullen is playing very well.
I still don't think he is enough of a general on the field but maybe Bennett is fixing that, and his kicking game is still suspect ..mostly his short kicking in my opinion, but his passing and running games and his defence are as good as any 5/8 in the comp at the moment.
His kicking game annoys me because when he's on he's pinpoint accurate and he probably has the most diverse kicking in the comp, but he is'nt consistant with it and that pees me off .

I think what makes Mullo a 5/8th and not a 7 is the fact that he is not a 'General' as such. He doesn't have that organizational mentality that you need to be the dominant instructor. Although Mullo does steer an awesome ship with great tactical kicking and some impressive attacking ball movement... Its difficult to know what makes Mullo a better 5/8th than a 7 but I recon Bennetts reasoning wouldnt be far from that

Tuimavave off to Hull at the end of the season.

The Sunday paper also said that Edwards has been offered a one year deal for next season, and at much lower rate than the 2 year, 400k deal he was offered (and knocked back) last year.
It also said there are no other clubs interested in him.

Must be loving his manager right now.
