Smithy going to the Roosters next season (confirmed)

The main thing I'm concerned with is how many players he will take with him to the Roosters.

I'm also particularly concerned with the lack of experienced coaches are available.
 
Well its a bad loss, just hope we can get a good enough coach to keep the team going next year & he doesnt take any of our team to sydney :|
just wish it had of been announced once the season is over.
 
this makes me sick!!! the roosters not only steal players there now stealing coaches. ive had enough of the roosters. hope they get woodern spoon next year to.

Wouldnt be surprised if the Roosters went to him first and he turned them down, so they went after BS.

I think Tim Gilbert mentioned something about some Knights players not being happy about the news.
 
Well BS hadnt spoken to the players yet, notified them via text message after it broke news. I guess we will get a better indication when he adresses them in person today or tomorrow, and more importantly on friday in our performance against the eagles.
 
Even if they don't want to perform for Smith, then I hope they want to perform for themselves. I can understand why they'd be absolutely filthy. I mean most of them have just re-signed, probably under the impression that Smith would be there, plus on top of that they were told out of the blue via text messages. I really hope they still want to listen to Smith though for their own sakes, and if not then perform to show the new coach what they're capable of (whoever that may be).

Def need to play well Friday night. Could be our most important game of the year in terms of the players mental attitude for the rest of the season.
 
Who are our defensive coaches, etc? Are we going to loose them too? If Smith takes most of the current coaching staff with him this could get really bad.
 
It would be a waste if the team drops because of this. We are in a position to be a threat... Nothing can be done, should get over it and just focus on the few weeks to come.

Our coaching staff are staying, it's just Smith.
 
After 7 directors took cuts to allow BS to stay with the Knights he goes and does this.
All i can say is it's a dog act by Brian Smith.

BS is already thinking about next year. Lovely to see him at the Roosters v Warriors game today.

brian smith will be very professional and give our side everything he has before his contract runs out, this is certain, but we don't know how the players are going to react to it yet.

Dog act? Is he suppose to sit around twiddling his thumbs until Newcastle decide they actually want him for the long haul?

Roosters have a good young playing roster and offered him a 4 year deal worth $2.4 million. There'd be something wrong with Smith if he didn't accept it.

If you're looking for someone to be mad at... look no further than the Newcastle board.

Now that ****es me off. Sorry but he is still our Coach, thats like Gidley going and playing for Sea Eagles this week while we have the bye ! But i still have a soft spot for Brian :/
 
this is interesting. up until as late as the start of this year people wanted BS gorn. now he is leaving everyone is saying he should stay
im not suprised though he has been the bad guy ever since he go here. at the roosters they are calling him their "white knight" of cause he'd leave
 
Can everyone get over this. He is leaving. WOW. Lets focus on a new coach now. It's not as if we are raging favourites for the premiership. There is still room for improvement.

Smith isn't the greatest coach ever. There will be someone just as good or better out there. The team will still be there. Get over it and stop whinging. It's good news in my eyes.

Let the Hagan love and Smith bashing begin again.

I also agree its potentially a good thing in the long run, but after your whine about the 'hagan bashing' in the other thread, and now the quick praise of Smithy leaving without acknowledging a thing he has done, it seems like you feel right back at home.
