Pre-season 2024

A lot of talk about who gets the other edge spot, imo hopefully at least two of KPP, Lucas and Cartwright kick off and we could look at moving Frizz into a bench Prop.

Lucas and Friz should start.

Cartwright is a big body with a good story as to why he may be a good value player for us, but he's been a fringe FG'r since his debut. Lucas has done more than enough to have first crack at that spot before KPP inevitably takes it from him. Lord knows AOB cannot wait to get KPP on the field and he's not a middle, neither is Lucas. So I think it's inevitable.

That is interesting. It would be good to see how he went at Prop. I reckon his leg speed might be really good and he is nice and aggressive. Great idea I reckon

Yeah, I’m on the Frizz to Prop train too! Not sure it’s gonna happen this season though unless both Lucas and KPP absolutely brain it.

Loving all the talk about potential positions and who’s playing where. It’s shows we have good depth in multiple positions this year. I think Frizz is starting second row. But maybe he could move into a front row role later in the game to accommodate both KKP and Lucus playing on the field also. Trying to get the best 17 on the field.

Article on Tuala in the Herald this morning.
Says he had a pec injury this time last year and came into the season underdone and had to wait till round 16 to make firstgrade.
Says he wants to play in the trial and make the wing spot his own.
Describes Jenkins as a gun player who has trained great.
Says Mapapalangi is fully fit for the first time in 2 years and is training well.
Says all 3 have been swapping around this pre-season, but also says Tuala has 89 firstgrade games and the others have a handful between them.
Tuala says he is in the last year of his contract and has a young family, so wants to play in the trial and have a strong year.

Having those 3 vying for the wing spot is good competition. It must be close who will get it. So yeah the trials will be super important for those 3.

If it happens we either need to sign someone or promote someone before the season starts to get up to 29 in the main squad.
Development players currently are

Fletcher Sharpe
Myles Martin
Tommy Cant
Fletcher Myers
Seb Sua
Zach Herring

I guess best bets would be Tommy Cant or Zach Herring. Tom looks most developed forward and Zac would be a straight swap as a playmaker. That’s if they decide to lrokte from within.

Trials even more important for these guys.

Laitia Moceidreke, Clay Webb or Jaxson Rahme are suitable candidates. Might have to see how these trials pan out

How long is Sharpe signed for?

Because lets be honest, if he turns our to be a first grader, he ain't playing fullback, no matter how good he is.
2025 I believe. Votano maybe 2026? If not 2025 also.

No better apprenticeship than learning from KP, especially now and with what KP has gone through, from a struggling team to his injuries.

He’s still quite young, no need to rush.

New teams coming into NRL is going to make it difficult. Could see a new club throwing very good money at either Sharpe or Votano. Or both.

Not fussed losing any junior when it's players like Ponga in front of them.
