Danny Levi requests a release

From day 1 with Brown it's been clear that he gives guys he signs from other clubs a very favoured run at securing a position in the team.
Wardle was barely good enough to hold a position in reserve grade on merit, but Brown rushed him into firstgrade and kept him there despite him being complete rubbish.
At the start of last off season it was very clear that all 7 guys Brown had signed were getting a saloon ride into firstgrade, and guys like Levi, Lamb, Cogger, Ross, Denniss, Jake Saifiti, Sio, Starling, Meaney could all suck ****. Didn't matter how hard they tried - they were not going to get a position over one of the chosen ones Brown had recruited.
Last pre season Starling couldn't even get a run in reserves because Christian Hazard had to get his chance. Hazard was even given time in the firsts over Levi, which is insane - the guy wasn't even a reserve grade standard hooker.
All those guys were treated like ****, and all developed an "attitude problem" and are out the door.

If we win the premiership this year, Brown is a genius who deserves a million dollar contract.

If we crash and burn, as I suspect we will, we should do like they did in those old western movies - tar and feather the guy and run him out of town on a rail (whatever that means).

woolford is a more rounded hooker similiar to griffen. levi is an impact hooker similiar to segeyaro. thats my opinion. but levi is always an impact hooker off the bench. the bloke just needs to learn theres nothing wrong with that.
Woolford is a mid 80s percent tackle efficiency at reserve grade level defender - Griffin is mid 90s percent at firstgrade level. Griffin's best attribute is his defence. Woolford's worst attribute is his defence.
Woolford is a very clever playmaker and dummy half who has a lot of try assists. Griffin isn't.
The only thing similar about them is looks.

Besides Saifiti, tell me who of the players you named will walk into a first grade spot elsewhere!
The guys that have left or been replaced have done so because they are fringe players at best and will find themselves in the same situation wherever they go!
But hey, it's Browns fault they weren't good enough, take the blinkers off Bill!

All of them are fine young players who would and will have great careers if they are lucky enough to get well coached by someone who can develop their skills - which means they are all better off getting out of Newcastle.

Give it away Billy. Apart from Fitzy the much vaunted juniors are yet to make an impact. Without our imports last year it would have been four spoons in a row.

What would you classify as a crash and burn though?

Brown is saying the rebuild is over and Bedsy said yesterday that we are in a window to be contenders, so clearly they have put together the squad they were trying to put together.
If they don't at least make the 8, it's an epic fail.
If we aren't at least some chance at the title, all the pain wasn't worth it.

I read somewhere yesterday that Levi is bringing the whole team down with his attitude at training ...There's a lot more to this than we know about I reckon ...

While his multiple wooden spoon winning coach...
Mate that's just nasty and a cop out imo he has 2 spoons and got them because of the situation the club was in which was so bad they were talking of closing us down why don't blokes like you give Brown some credit for having the guts to take on a basket case knowing we would get spoons …
Im sick and tired of you blokes putting him down all the time , look where HE has brought us look at the team he has bought and how our cap is . The guy has done a great job but people like you just hate the guy anyway ...Sick of hearing this crap about him why don't you go and do a better xxxxxx job.
Be quite difficult to do any worse. I don't like Brown you are head of his fan club. I don't get upset by you heaping praise on the bloke yet me not rating his coaching ability bothers you.Bit odd really.

Another thing is if what you read is true surely a coach puts an end to it there and then.

Brown sees him as an impact hooker which is fair enough but if he darts out of dummy half and gets tackled the supporters will hang him from Nobby's light house.

Ever crossed your mind that Levi bad attitude was there during preseason? And that you only seen it for the first time at that parra trial?
I know its a weird thought to wrap your head around but it may be plausible.

Your probably right, I can imagine how poor his attitude would be after playing in his first world cup campaign for New Zealand after playing NRL for all of that year.

Paints a picture of the doldrums he must have been in. What a poor attitude eh!

You’ve convinced me Billy. Is it too late trade in Pearce and Ponga for Cogger and Jake Mamo?
Spending the full salary cap is a completely different question to sacking all the good 20 year olds and signing 15 pretty ordinary 25 year olds because you can't improve young players.
For every Pearce and Ponga I can name 10 Lillyman, Bhana, Naden, Hazard, Allwood, Heighington, etc etc type signings - for no good reason at all.
I've always said you spend money on top level players you can't match - but you don't sign up half the rejects in the NRL.
Sides made up of mercenaries don't win titles.

Heighington was good for us. Lillyman was a flop. The rest of those blokes were on next to nothing.

The fact is Ponga, Pearce and Guerra were great for us. Griffin too pre injury, Watson was good when he was fit. Of all the First Grade signings only Moga (injury again) and Lillyman were flops.

Which is exactly the point.
Why sign 10 or so guys every year who have already failed at other clubs just to keep young players out.

You say we have had 4 or 5 good signings.
I support that 1000%.
All the others - the churn of nearly 60 players under Brown - is just nonsense.

So the players don’t think they will make the team because they come from Newy.

We’ve been through this before with Brian Smith.

Where’s all these great juniors that Brown has replaced with those dud signings? Next to none if any have kicked on at another NRL club. Gotta give Billy some credit though. He won’t give up.

Clydesdale, Edwards, Pat, Chanel and Mamo are all killing it.

Tapine is going great at raiders, but that's about it.
