Tapine a no for the centres for me !.. Wouldn't mind seeing Korbin on a edge though. Hope Levi is fit I'd just keep picking him !... Also Mamo needs to come back and maybe even try Chanel

Therein lies our problem, I can't even think of anyone who deserves those last two bench spots... Mataora has barely any impact at all, Rochow stockwell both out, don't need two hookers and struggle giving the spot to falago and bloody cling Newton... I love kurt but his times come to head on overseas. I think nathan ross deserves a chance at fullback he's been tearing up cup footy, I really like tapine as an edge runner and think korbin was outstanding when he switched out wider also, Tariq is struggling on his edge and not doing a whole lot of damage since return from injury, I'd play him up the Middle and let him put his head down and charge...
Something needs to be done but we've got the final 7 or 8 rounds to tinker with the squad and bring some guys in to see what they're capable of as this seasons dead...

Thought Mataora's impact was really good tonight. Only 6 hitups for 70m, but he bent the line well in those runs, just got limited minutes.

    Everyone sticking with Levi.
I thought it was clear from this game that Levi's defence is still not up to the standard we need for firstgrade.
Randell also showed that his defence suffers when he is asked to go too many minutes.
We pretty much need Clydsdale to do 50 minutes and 30 or 40 tackles. Randell can cover the other 30 minutes.

Randall is a plodder and not first grade standard and I doubt has any improvement in him, I'd be dropping him back to NSW cup and perservering with Levi.

After seeing Randell's defense I think for next year we'll need Clydesdale in the 17, we definitely need a 40+ tackle player

He was asked to go 70 minutes at hooker in firstgrade. He has never been more than a fill in for short minutes at hooker, even in reserve grade, so 70 minutes is a remarkable effort.

I mentioned it weeks ago Randell isn't first grade standard and proves the position we're currently running that he's our starting hooker, wouldn't make another top 10 side in Comp, lucky he's local as he gets to play first grade here

He's a perfectly good number 14. He can do a solid 30 minutes at hooker and cover for any injuries in the halves.
Any coach in the NRL would be happy to have him for those roles - unless they had someone better.
This week he had to play 70 minutes at hooker - which he just doesn't have to motor to do - and neither does any other player on our books except maybe Clydsdale - or any but about a dozen players in the NRL. Hooker is the hardest working position on the field.
A year ago Randell was doing maybe 20 minutes at hooker and another 20 minutes in the second row in reserve grade. At that time i would have said him doing 70 minutes in firstgrade at hooker was impossible. It would be like asking Vaivai to play 80 minutes at prop in firstgrade.

Fair enough if it's not the norm for him, coming off the bench wouldn't be too bad for the team if it was predominately as a back rower if we had a hooker who could go 80, based on the fact he can cover so many positions and does have a dig.

I am not sold on having 2 specialists hookers in the 17. Waste of a bench spot IMO.

Spot on and next year no team will be ble to afford a bench hooker with less internchanges coming.

I can see most sides sharing the hooker role around between players on the field or trying to use just one interchange instead of the current two.
Roberts did a few sets at dummy half last night, and Gidley did the odd play, which is the only way Randell lasted the game.

Next year I can see most sides having a starting hooker who will go for about 50 minutes and then a second hooker for the last 30, which means only 1 interchange instead of the 2 most sides use now, or have several guys take turns at dummy half.

That's very true. Clydsdale starting with Levi coming on for the final 30 could work wonders.

Has the interchange reduction been confirmed yet? I keep reading about it, but must have missed the official announcement, if there has been one.
