Luke Walsh will look to resurrect his NRL career with the Newcastle Knights in 2017.

Walsh has spent the last three seasons plying his trade in the Super League for St Helens but is keen to return to Australia.

Walsh and his wife have two young children and are keen to move back home closer to family and support.

Current Knights coach Nathan Brown was also in charge at St Helens when Walsh made the move overseas and is a strong reason why he’s looking to sign with the Knights now.

There have been suggestions that Jarrod Mullen could make a move to hooker in 2017, opening a spot for Walsh to partner Trent Hodkinson in the halves.

Handy back up half or hooker, no way would i move mullo for him though.

Be a total waste of money buying Rory as well if mullo is to play hooker.

Sick of getting the washed up players. Look at Cronulla and raiders let's buy some in form players maybe

Could also be a slight sign that Mullen might be forced out next season

If he wants to do a Clint Newton and come back for a small contract to basically captain the reserve grade side, I can't think of a better player to do it.
Even as a kid he basically ran the side from halfback and called all the shots, and now he is a 10 year veteran of the game at NRL/ESL level.
He trained with Johns and Bell and basically learnt everything there is to know from the best.
He could pass all that on to our current crop of young halves - and right now we basically have the NSW halves at under 16s, under 18s and under 20s level, and Pearsall and Feeney in reserve grade are not that shabby either.
Walsh for 100k a season would make a great reserve grade captain and firstgrade backup.

The article says there has been suggestions, meaning they are guessing that he might be for first-grade. Don't take it as gospel guys, I reckon if we sign him it'll be for reserve grade, which would be fine by me.

Was thinking the same thing. He'd be handy in NSW Cup helping develop the likes of Cogger & Lamb.

Funnily, Luke's younger brother, Tyronne Walsh, would have been our NYC halfback last year and this year, but a couple of kids named Cogger and Lamb were just too good and were brought up as 17 year olds over the year older Walsh.

Don't have a problem with it. Like Billy said if he does what Newton did and come back for a couple of years for Cup while helping the young guys develop and fill in for Hodko/Mullen when out then that's a bit handy. Not sure why you'd have your knickers in a knot over that.

Zero Tackle is unreliable, Mostly they just get their rumours from other media sources but I think they came up with this one by themselves

Well Hodkinson is a wooden spoon 1/2 and Mullo is a double wooden spoon 1/2 and 5/8 so Walsh cant do much worse than that and i read somewhere that he has been in good form just that his misses wants to come home ....

Ethan do u actually know anything about playing rugby league?

    Least meters in a season.
Most missed tackles in a season.

Those 2 things alone warrant the spoon.

Poor forwards won the spoon not the halves.
