I hope Shibasaki doesn't even get to play 1st grade this season or Tuala for that matter , hopefully 1 ponga 2 Lee 3 Best 4 Moga 5 Hunt. Will play all season and smash everyone they play against .
Anyone able to decipher what Ponga senior is saying in his first spotlight moment as his sons manager? Poor kid needs to cut the cord with him and be his own man.
Bronco's are probably the scariest competition we have for mine being the centre boy of the glamour club and back to QLD........ Fits.
Depends how they go this season. If they have another underwhelming season he might not want to go near them either.
The Broncos will be fine once all of Bennett’s deadwood like Boyd/Bird etc are gone.
the young kids Seibold has bought in seem to respond to him. Guess that’s why he got a four or five year deal. And made Lodge a potential captain as much as I don’t like it.
Im over worrying about it . If he wants to go let him it gives us a mill or so to chase someone else , We will find another f/back , we already have 2 in Best and Toa. There's always someone worth signing Dewi (don't know how to spell his name ) from souths is on the outer and he is a damned good f/b not that we would sign him as Ponga is still here but as I said there's always someone .
Last year we had the NSW under 20s fullback in Hoy, the NSW under 18s fullback in best, the Junior Kiwis fullback in Toa, both Toa and Best played fullback for Australian Schoolboys at the start of the year, and our under 16s fullback Christopher Vialie played for the Pacifica selection against NSW under 16s.
we had rep fullbacks in every grade, including Ponga in firsts.
With Ponga is great but we would survive without him .
Ponga is elite. He's not quite there yet but he's not far off being one of those players that single handedly can win you a game. He's exactly the kind of player you need to build around to win a premiership. Without him we are significantly further off from being a contender. To'a & Best might be decent players but with all due respect they have not shown anything that comes close to Ponga yet.
I believe a lot will depend on any improvement under O'Brien. Over the last two seasons Ponga appeared to be the only chance we had of setting up/scoring tries.
Thats because the team got in to the "give it to Ponga" mindset and majority of our honest scoring chances just went out to Ponga on the left. Defences easily read it and shut us down.
Hopefully we will see Ponga on both sides of the ruck frequently this season, and Pearce and whoever the selected 5/8 will be come round 1, get clear direction to run the attack.
The knights have offered Ponga an upgraded four year deal:
