No way no how would Newcastle ever lose their NRL license. Ever. That was just paper talk to get clicks.

Manly were perennial finalists and premiers while their off field dramas were at their peak. They had 2 lean years but then back to the finals again while off field still aren’t in order.

Head office drama just gives the players a easy cop out excuse for playing poorly while collecting their pay.

KP urged not to sign Knights deal.

With only a year before the Rugby world cup it wouldn't give him time to get his Rugby game up to speed. Which is true.

Personally, I don't see Rugby a threat at the moment. I think KP will want to achieve a premiership in League first, which is what is holding up him extending with the Knights. Wouldn't surprise me if he keeps stonewalling the Knights until he is sure we are going to be a premiership threat, otherwise he will sign with Roosters or Melbourne.

Rugby will probably get him for the world cup after the 23 one.

He'd have to really want it.
It would cost him a couple of million in earning potential to do 2 years as a rookie in Union, with no assurances that it would work out.
I suppose he could do what SBW did and sign a million dollar deal with French Union for a year to learn the game before going to NZ on peanuts to earn a All Blacks spot.

He'd get paid a motza to play Australian Union.
In NZ he's they don't give out huge dollars unless you actually make the All Blacks. He'd just be another rookie.

Oh okay, well another reason I am not concerned about him going than, he and everyone else can say its not about the money, but lets see if that's the case when he is leaving a million on the table for a couple of years.

It's funny how a flog and one of the four stooges from the Telecrap/Foxsports in Hooper can put his name to an article about a pretend Union clause and now no one is willing to put their name to the article on Foxsports lmao.

Makes no sense for him to re-sign right now. I'd imagine he wants to see how well we play before committing to a team which might miss out on the finals yet again, despite a quality roster. We're also the only club who can make an offer (at least legitimately) to him at the moment. Gardner has already shown the club's cards as a 'desperate suitor' and has said that Ponga will take less money to stay - a stupid thing to say publicly IMO. Why would Ponga settle for one club's offer without at least hearing what else is available from others? He doesn't owe us anything more than to play out the two years left on his current deal. If I was Ponga, I'd be waiting as well.

Ponga will stay and get used to the Joey like drama every time his contract is up.

My understanding is the offer put forward is an upgraded salary for 2021 (and maybe 2020?) so financially there is incentive to re-sign early with a very reasonable upgrade.

Of course if he decides to wait and take up a hypothetical big money union offer after nov 1 he is still playing for us in 2021 for 600-700k or whatever it is.

It says multi million dollar over ten years.
So I guess that means a minimum of $2mil so at least $200k per year.
Pretty good for wearing clothes you get for free.
On top of the $1mil+ he will be getting.

    For sure...thanks
Hope it's seen as a reason to stick around, he can still get his dollars even in ol Newcastle. His old man must be happy with himself, as his manager im assuming he prob would've set it up
