The last two games the team has started each game with intent, you could see from the outset, compared to the previous 5 weeks they were much improved. Our problem so far this season has been attitude and it has been poor. Thats on Brown plain and simple. If a player is not competing, or the team is flat Brown needs to take steps to correct. I had serious doubts he had any idea how to do that given a 5 game losing streak with little visible change to attitude. I can cop losing games if we are having a go, and we were not having a go as we should be, in most of the games this year, bar the 1st game and the last two.

Reportedly they had an honesty session and it seems to have worked, who arranged that? I'm guessing Brown and thats his job, see something not right and correct it. It didn't look like he had any idea on how to turn the side around previously, so kudos to him for the new attitude.

I thought the game plan against Warriors to kick the ball out when possible was good to limit their kick return options, not anything we haven't seen in the past from him.

So, Brown is on the up, gets a pass for the last two weeks and we will see how we go from here.

Rob, honestly there were some calls which were a bit dubious I noticed 3 occasions through the game where the Pocket was calling milking or Locking in and the Control ref still blew the penalty against us , not sure it was the worst case of bias this year but it does highlight some officiating deficiencies in the game which are concerning

There were a few soft penalties that the Warriors got. Not much to write home about. Had no effect on the result so who cares?

Complaining about a 6-7 penalty count in game we won by 18 points is just weird. Especially from the coach.

I didn't think the refs were too bad tbh with you Simon. Just in that first 10-20 mins thought we could've got a few penalties when they were slowing the ruck down when we were attacking their line only for the refs to turn around blow them against us. They should never have been in that position to score their first. Not only in our game but right across the nrl the amount of forward passes being let go is a bit of a joke. Anyway we won, so happy days.
Was surprised Brown came out and said anything considering we won.

On the ref front I thought they blew penalties for holding down too long in the tackles against us but not so much against them.

Also thought we were not any worse than any other team or game this year, with the reduction in penalties this season players are laying all over players for an age.

But that's what you get sometimes.

Yesterday’s result was awesome. Most pleasing part were our completions and defence under pressure. Made it a little bit better that we went on with the job after being locked at 18-18, and racked up a nice score. Pearce has really stepped up these last two weeks and his game management has been class.

The refs seemed to be blowing "random" penalties.
I don't mind if they set a benchmark and enforce it, even if they are harsh, but in this game they'd let 3 or 4 go and then penalise one that wasn't even that bad.
Hard for the players to know where they stand if the penalties come just when the ref remembers he has a whistle and not with any consistency.

The timing of the penalties was consistent there were 3 or 4 penalties blown on the 4th or 5th tackle when the warriors were stuck down there end and going no where.

Ponga was never going to be in trouble for the "trip" thing, whatever he was doing, but he wants to be told not to pat the ref on the shoulder again. I can't remember the details, but I think players got in a lot of trouble for that a few years ago.

Yeah there was massive drama over this. My stomach churned when I saw him do it.

Sione actually said to him don't touch the ref again in the moment. KP meant no malice in the pat so nothing should come of it.

Same, a few years ago there were citings and suspensions for it if I recall, and some of those were incidental touches like Ponga's I think.

Nothing will come of it though, in this instance.

Exactly, incidental stuff like that. Block was just fixing up his fair for him.

Yes, and our ones were all on the Warriors line, which often are more helpful to the defending team. There's a huge difference between fifth tackle penalty in your own half, and a second or third tackle penalty five metres out. I thought Brown was right to mention it in the press conference.

On the other hand, I thought we had a few lucky calls the week before vs Parra, so it all evens out.
