As much as it pains me to say this, I think this will be our first L of the year.

    Raiders looking near untouchable

Have to agree, we've looked good, our scramble defence has been huge, but this is going to be a big game. Raiders attack looks great.
I've had no problem with Mann so far, he's been doing his job, but this is the big test for him. Raiders should throw everything at him, he's the obvious weakness in our line defensively & I'll be amazed if they don't head his way. I just hope he's up to it.

Raiders have to lose some time. Plus they'll be travelling just as far as we are

In the Hoy interview he said "Killer" (Mann) was swearing at him and telling him where to go and taking control.
    That wasn't obvious during the game, but he was the only experienced spine player in the side. For most of the game our spine was;
    1 Hoy (debut)
6 Sione (not really playing 6)
    7 Mann
    9 Randall (debut)

That would be the worst spine in Knights history, except they did the job.

I don't know if i'd say worst spine in Knights history..
Remember there was once a time when our spine was made up of Wes Naiqama, Ryan Stig, Tyrone Roberts and Isaac De Gois.

I think Mann gets a lot less credit than he deserves, he acts as a pretty good foil for Junior.

That being said, if Pearce plays the full game I think we win 13+.
Burton's kicking game wasn't as incredible as everyone makes it out to be and I think Pearce's kicking game would have got us over the line.

Burton’s looked like prime Joey compared to his opposite.

That and defence was the only good thing to his game. I think he might turn into a back rowers as he fills out more over the next year or two.

I think Prime Joey is a bit of an overstatement, Mann did well considering he's never been a dominant playmaker.

When you consider that Burton is a specialist half and couldn't kill off a game in which his side lead by 14-0, questions need to be asked.

Mann is not a specialist half and is very much a stop-gap solution until one of either Crossland or Hoy is ready for First Grade, and managed to navigate his team in the way of a 14 point comeback and end up with a 50/50 share of the points.

If Burton's kicks going too deep and leading to seven tackle sets, his average 5th tackle options and his inability to dominate territory with long distance kicking are "Prime Joey" then we clearly have very different memories of Andrew Johns.

I thought Prime Joey referred to Steve Fulmer. He didn't have much of a kicking game.

Got it the wrong way around haha. I actually thought they had pretty similar games. Burton should get markedly better though, whereas Mann has probably peaked at this point. Mann is a utility and a decent one, but he won't be a superstar.

    Burton outplayed Luai.
I find it a bit freaky that he never has any expression on his face though.

Connor gone for 4-6 weeks apparently. Ughhh.

The McCullough signing came at the most perfect time.

In comparison to what Mann dished up he was prime Joey with his place kicking.

Mann being the senior playmaker was invisible to the point he was jumping in at dummy half (and ruining momentum very late on for a chance to snatch the win) and a bit part rookie playmaker on debut was running the show.

Mann had zero bearing on the comeback. That was all in the forwards and a big outside back being able to crash over for a couple tries.

I can’t remember too many 20m restarts off of Burton’s foot apart from his non clutch field goal attempts. He doesn’t seem the creative half but very much in the mould of a young Wade Graham and will likely be shifted to the backrow like he was due to size and not consistently providing creativity that’s expected on a half.

He definitely dominated the territory with his kicking hence the massive amounts of metres gained by the outside backs and then the forwards. You guys were physically way to good for them. Just the lack of end product and down on troops made it a contest.

Having too many first grade players and not enough spots it a good thing. Been the other way round for far too long.

20 years ago when we were winning premierships rep players like kimmorely and ennis were leaving because they couldn't get a game. If that starts happening again you know we're a shot at winning the comp.

Wow that sucks!! Do we know if Brailey could come back before end of season noting the break?

Thinking about this further; what a prime opportunity to get Mann into the 14 Jersey and Hoy into the 6. I liked what Randall did vs Penrith but a spine of 1. Ponga 6. Hoy 7. Pearce 9. McCulloch and 14. Mann is pretty solid. Great mix of experience and attacking flair that would make our attack quite unpredictable and test the Raiders out big time.

Those spines are lightyears ahead of what we had on Sunday. 2 debutants, Sione playing 6 but not really & Mann who is a bit part player as our main playmaker. For me that is no competition the worst for sure. Mullo & De Gois were good players, Roberts, Stig & Naiqama were all decent, didn't watch the others.

If he runs out in the number 9 I'm expecting the curse to strike and he gets injured.
Throw a different number on the Jersey, he will be ok then.
