32 less penalties than round 1 last year, More ball in play and less time waiting for the bunker

Hopefully it stays that way throughout 2019 !!

Ball in play really does need to be at least 60 minutes. Lower the scrum/dropouts time limits again. All kickoff restarts need to be time off until ball has been kicked.

More severe penalties on goal kickers taking to long as well.

No way should there be 25+ minutes of an 80 minute game where the ball isn’t in play.

Is it me or are the Refs losing total regard for any infringements which happen in the PTB area.

I am getting sick and tired of the continual moving forward off the mark by the player playing the ball, he immediately takes the markers into an offside position , while also shielding the 1 off rucker from the markers by getting in between them and the Markers.

The Defenders do everything they can to stop the ball carrier and limit their momentum, yet when they stand up and take their Rightful position on the mark for the PTB the Attacker moves into him and the Defender gets charged with Crowding or impacting the Ball causing it to come loose.

Easy sequence to address this is - Ref from a position near the PTB, control the Mark by keeping players apart, control the PTB sequence (of stand up, play ball, with your foot, without knocking on, clearing of Dummy half) , control the stepping off the Mark, Control the Offside interference caused by the step forward, control the intentional "Sheppard play" on Markers( including the grabbing of jerseys and joistling), Control the stepping forward which causes the Crowding, Control the forward pass from Dummy half- simple.

If it wasn't important why would these aspect form part of the PTB procedure ?

Easiest way to eliminate this is to blow a few penalties against the team in control of the ball (if they are the perpetrators) - it won't take long for the Coach's to make the necessary adjustments.

At the moment coaches condone the action cause the penalties often run with the team in control of the play, that will change as soon as it becomes a lottery.

Pathetic year from the refs imo.
And to top it off they wrecked the GF with that 6 again call.

What a horrible call. You just can't change your mind in that moment. You made the call for 6 again, signalled it and thats that. You can't then change it once they get tackled and go thats a hand over.

And I really hope the NRL cracks down on trainers being on the field unless a player is injured. There has been a few incidents where trainers have affected the game, or almost have of late. Get em off the field.

Anyone getting dropped for that howler? Or for allowing a trainer on the field who didn't need to be so soon in a game?

Refs have had way too much influence on the results of games this year.
I would be absolutely gutted of I were a Raiders fan.
