That's fantastic news. I remember listening to their commentary of Souths vs Wests last year, and it was really enjoyable, especially as the game got more heated, as they were well behind Souths.

Maitland v West - -Maitland winners..very close game, not much between the 2 teams - number of players from both teams backing up, from Rep game day earlier. Coach Miller for West voiced his issues with referee in the media, if there were questionable decisions it was not blatantly obvious. Maitland scored the last 2 tries using the same backline move, with Jade Porter the playmaker responsible, dangerous with the ball in hand - from 20 metres out. Connelly, Frize, Horwood, Walker and Osborn were solid for Maitland - Mannion for West was their pick in the forwards, and young halves Lidden and Walsh look likely long term first graders - -Lidden in particular looks a real good number 6..

Newcastle have made the final of the AAMI CRL Senior Championships, set to play Canberra next Saturday.
The Final of the AAMI CRL Senior Championships will take place at Seiffert Oval, Queanbeyan on Saturday 30th June.

Tier 2 final (winner of Group 11 V Group 3 and winner of Group 7 V Group 20) will kickoff at 11am, with the Tier 1 Final between Canberra and Newcastle will start at 1245pm.

Cessnock 30 -Macquarie 28 - - Macquarie had opportunity to win this game, in the last couple of minutes but came up short. Seu Seu was dominant in first half, dropped off in the second half - when Macquarie stormed home - may have carried injury for most second half. Mick Oshea at front row and Riley Brown good for Cessnock - Swadling was very strong for Scorpions along with former Knight and Rooster Jonathon Ford in the centres. Both Daine Laurie and Simon Allen missing from Scorpions after being called up to Knights Reserves, Allen a late call up - Scorpions do not expect to see Daine Laurie again this year, due to Knights duties..

Newcastle won the Country Championships, beating Canberra 42-24 at Seiffert Oval.

Broadcast game result South 22 Kurri 12... Having led for the first 60 minutes of the match, Kurri were overrun by a spirited South team, in front of a large Kurri crowd. 2 long range tries from Lewis Schneider sealed the win for the Lions. Good games from Chris Marlborough and Martin Kelly for South's with Scott Briggs showing good signs including a 'chris sandow' style hit on the Kurri front rower which seemed to help turn the game South's way. Kurri with big name players Reegan Tanner, George Nadira and Daniel Abrahams will be disappointed with 4 losses in last 6 games will be counting the days for the return of Jesse Royal from injury.

This week's live broadcast on www.newcastlerugbyleague.com.au click on 'fordo& butts' icon - West Rosella's v South Lions .. from 1pm - First Grade Kick Off 2pm ....Sunday the 8th..

Late Rescheduling by South's has this game commencing same time as Knights, for fans of both - watch 1 game and listen to the other...

Premiership Contenders Western Suburbs v Cessnock - This Sunday live from 2.30pm on www.newcastlerugbyleague.com.au click on 'fordo& butts' icon.

18 year old Zac Walsh - bought to Newcastle by the Knights will make his First Grade Debut at number 7 for the Rosellas.

Missing 3 players on Country duties, Western Suburbs smashed Cessnock missing 6 players on Country duty 56-14. Knights recruit halfback Zac Walsh scores 2 individual tries from relatively close range in the first half, and plays little of the second half - given what appears to be a 'early mark' by coach Miller. This Sunday from 2pm on www.newcastlerugbyleague.com.au listen live as West v Wyong - first grade kicks off 3pm.. Wyong and West's are both in great form - rep players should be available for West's - should get a good gauge on Zac Walsh's form when he comes head to head with experienced Wyong number 7 Alex Moore..
