R360

Apparently confirmed that the rebel rugby comp is starting next year.

Allegedly 10 NRL players have signed, three confirmed names are Ryan Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax and Jye Gray.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona also likely, and chat of Payne Haas getting an offer of over 2 million... in US dollars...

V’landys has said there will be “consequences” for any player seeking to break a contract.

Off contract players will be free to sign with R360.

Lomax is the only one trying to get out of a contract. Others are off contract end of 2026.

Melbourne are likely encouraging Nelson to talk with them.

I've heard RTS and Will Kennedy being mentioned as guys that could go to this competition.

Wouldn't be surprised if PVL to puts the red pen on players in the middle of a contract that leave the NRL for R360.

I know nothing of R360.

How many teams are there going to be?

Given it's a Rugby comp, surely the vast majority of players will come from Rugby already with some players leaving league to join the R360.

But how many players are we talking leaving league? 10. 20?

League will survive.

If R360 does take off and becomes an ongoing league, and can sustain the contracts being offered now to attract players, it may have a lasting affect on RL. But isn't it already the case players could leave RL and play Rugby in Japan or somewhere for more lucrative money than in League and they still choose to stay?

Yeah they said SBW would never be welcomed back but they rolled out the red carpet for him as if he was the messiah returning
Different organisations though. Different people have different ideas. PVL might ban them, a new CEO in 5 years time might have other ideas.

Like some others I have no idea what R360 is about but my understanding it is basically Union with a few changes in rules.
Leads me to think that most will likely be Union players but some League who you would assume are players who have achieved most of what they want and are on the back side of career, obviously with a few exceptions, chasing $$$.
Don’t know why any League player would change codes to chase big bucks when the new clubs Perth and PNG are likely to be offering regular first graders big contract $’s and established Clubs paying to retain players.
It DONT MAKE SENSE

Feels like another World Series Cricket or Allen Stanford type creation that will flounder after a while but hopefully give the hierarchy in rugby league a kick up the arse to improve the game.

The start of the comp starts before the 2026 nrl grand final, so players who sign for inaugral season would need to be released from their 2026 contracts

Sonny Bill also was also banned for the length of his initial contract that he signed with the Bulldogs. The year he came back he would have been a free agent. But yes they were basically hoping it would blow over during those years which in some ways it did. Probably shouldn't have done that second stint though, yikes! Was well out of his element.
As much as the fans dislike it it's probably bad publicity to be petty about it

You look at LIV Golf and every self righteous person in the media saying it would fail before it began (like Peter Fitzsimons) and the people they all looked like absolute gooses when the tour stuck around. Not saying that R360 will be the same. It does seem like they have a few different things, but there will be guys looking for a bigger pay day who will show a difference.

For those who want Ponga gone, hope they throw him $2-3m a year and maybe some more 'transfer fee' cash compensation for our troubles to release him early lol.

If R360 doesn't have ridiculous video refereeing, where certain plays are subjected to a forensic audit that doesnt apply to the rest of the game ( and this destroying the spectacle,) they might have a USP vs what the NRL has become. Its like they are wanting to be disrupted.
