Put Hayne at FB!

NSW ORIGIN SIDE GAME 2

1. JARED HAYNE
(deserves his opportunity to prove he's the best, needs to link up with kimmorley and get lyon and morris into the game early)

Idris- again no question he's a devastaing ball runner but origin is won on defence and he would have to be the worst defensive player in game one.

These 2 selections make me glad that your not an origin selector. Jarad Hayne came in off his wing when Idris had the ball carrier covered. All three times it lead to breaks that Gidley stopped. Idris made a devastating run and scored a try. Jarad Hayne is way overrated and he isn't the origin player he is cracked up to be.

Hayne should be fullback honestly dont recall the last time he played on the wing maybe last Origin. You put a bloke who's played in a different position for an year and expect him to do magical things in the position you want him to ,what more can you expect other than a ****ty game?

You just have to look at Darius Boyd to see how ridiculous that sounds. He has played fullback for the Saints for over a year yet he done his job well on the wing. It's a testament to the quality of player he is, he didn't come off his wing and he managed to score a try. Both Boyd and Hayne have played wing for a majority of their careers so it shouldn't come as any shock to Hayne for what he's expected to do.

Na, Gidley should be at 6. Give it a go. We scored two tries after he went there.

Keep him there at fullback. I thought he played fairly sound and his kick returns were superb. I am sick of hearing of these lame excuses to accomodate the games most overrated in Hayne to fullback. IMO that crap he dished up tonight justifies my statement.
I can see where you are both coming from as Gids made 197 metres and played well when he was shifted into the halves but I'd keep him at fullback. Hayne just has to learn to stay on his man in defence while he is on the wing. Hayne has played on the wing before, and what shanemj says is right. Boyd is a fullback at Saints but always does well for QLD on the wing.

Thurston did everything with the Boyd try and Hayne had an easy one aswell. My point is Boyd is not a dynamic player anywhere he plays he just does his job as a winger or a fullback , also he had good players around him for support , I would say he had it easy.

Hayne is a magical player and he's at his best when he's playing fullback. What we are doing pretty much is tieing the legs of the dog and complaining it's not running.

You've got to be kidding ?

He must be, Waterhouse wasnt that impreesive and his stats show it. But creagh didnt do too bad, and his stats show it. Especially considering the left side was kept pretty quiet in attack due to Kimmorley and lyons incorrect dicision to not exploit its strenght and go down the right constantly.

For game 2: Hayne will be fullback imo, and Gidley at either 6 or 7. But I agree that Gidley was really one of NSW's best in game 1. Strong kick returns and strong organization from the back. Good at beating the initial tackler. Thurston illegally stripped a ball of him that led to a try - that was the catalyst of all this Gidley hatred imo.

The reason QLD won was because their forwards out-muscled ours, therefore giving Thurston all the time in the world to tear us apart. Most of Kimmorley's kicks went straight to Slater or one of their wingers (I don't know how he is getting praise for his kicking game on wednesday night)... but put that down to our pack not being aggressive enough. Also, QLD took their chances and NSW didn't (Hayne's pass into touch for example). To beat this strong QLD side you have to take all your chances and apply pressure for large amounts of time... something NSW need to do in game 2 otherwise it'll be a 5th straight series for the banana benders.
