Hard to know how that will work in practice.
I suppose we'll get a few of their best young players down to do an NRL off season each year.

Suprised not more enthusiasm for the idea, typically their comp is a higher standard than ours and ipswich have been one of their better teams last 5-8 years.

Getting players from the QLD cup has worked wonders for Melbourne.
    It's great for the Knights.
And Obi has seen first hand how the Storm utilise it.

Melbourne have the luxury of cherry picking players from everywhere when they are 19 or 20, because they don't develop their own.
If every club did the same we'd have no players developed at all.

It's funny that the back to back Premiers do that as well, as well as operating under a higher salary cap then everyone else.

A few years ago we had fulltime coaches in every grade down to under 16s - only for 1 year though.
This year we have part time coaches in every grade including reserve grade, and all the full time guys are with the firstgrade squad.

In the article they say Newcastle is Ipswich by the sea.
Ipswich is one of the most godforsaken places I've ever seen.
I have an Uncle who lives not far from Ipswich and he drives to Brisbane to do his shopping because you take your life in your hands going to Ipswich, even in the middle of the day.

I went to Ipswich yearly as a junior. Great place and we never had any drama. Can't really say too much about the locals, all seemed friendly enough but we were only there for 2 weeks.

Well they were talking about Ipswich as one of the places they could relocate us if we kept getting wooden spoons and support dropped off.
The NRL has wanted more teams in Qld and less in NSW for a long time.

It never would have happened. The NRL need a team in Newcastle.

Even so, if you were thinking about relocating a team in Ipswich, the first thing you'd do is link them to Ipswich in some way.

If they move a team it will be one of the Sydney teams that don't get crowds.

We just made an $800,000 profit and get better crowds than most teams no chance we will get moved . Plus they want a Sydney team to relocate were not a Sydney team ...Getting rid of Newy would do nothing to help out the problem with too many teams in Sydney ...Besides Gardner would never let that happen he has always wanted to own the knights , he wont let them go now .

NRL already said the Knights aren't going anywhere. And the structures Wests have set up are going to make them self sustainable for some time.

Out of the two clubs up there Manly is more likely to be relocated. Basketcase of a front office for years, no fans who dont travel, garbage stadium, garbage fan base, hired a CEO who was linked to a salary cap rort, the list goes on and on.

Probably a reason why they swallowed their pride and bought back Des to bring some stability and credibility to the club.
