    Just a reminder that due to budget cuts, we have had to customize the existing Draft Champion medal ourselves to replace old man Benny with Rick Stone so congrats to the winner of this fine award. @Afro Zac has been in possession of it for the last two years, let's see if anyone has managed to replace him as champ!

    Don't think I can reclaim my award of best depth this year. It's a shame that I couldn't go back to back in easily the most sought out award but i'll go harder for it next year.

    Welcome to the Annual Marathon Stadium Draft Awards night!

    We will keep it short so we can get straight on to handing out the awards. Plus the Block is starting soon.

    With the 6th season of the Marathon Stadium Draft now concluded, I would first of all like to thank each and every coach who participated and stuck solid over the last 4 months. I know I'm not the only one who's already noted this year's draft to be the most enjoyable and smoothest one to date, you've all been great and I think this is the most even it's ever been, everyone's teams look amazing. Also a big thank you to @rhugh89 who's taken charge moderating the draft this (last) year and has helped enormously throughout the entire time, the hours you put into it is truly appreciated.

    So without further ado, let's look at our official winners! First up we have Best Backline...

    Best Backline

    The Best Backline award goes to the side that had the best backline overall after the completion of the draft. A good backline normally consists of speedy yet skillful backs and they must have the ability to score tries.

    The Winner of the Best Backline Award is:

    Afro Zac - The Coconuts of Fiji

    1. Jarryd Hayne
    2. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
    3. Dane Gagai
    4. Jamie Lyon
    5. Jorge Taufua

    Runners Up:
    @Junior11 - South East Elites
    @Levil Kinevil -
    The Sexual Tyrannosaurus
    @Joshhh - The Flying Fijians

    Congratulations @Afro Zac on an incredibly talented backline that has left many of us other coaches in awe.

    THREE years in the running now, Well done!

    Best Forward Pack

    A strong forward pack is crucial in any side as a weak forward pack will mean that your side will struggle for metres and not be able to capitalise on opportunities regardless of how good any other aspects of your side is.

    The Winner of the Best Forward Pack Award is a TIE:

    Defender1 - Sims City Thors

    8. Ben Matulino

    Best Halves

    The Halves are the most important part of a rugby league side. Every side needs a good set of halves to steer the rest of the team around the park. The Halfback can be considered the Captain of the ship and the 5/8 can be considered the vice-captain of the ship. If a side has weaker halves, the rest of their team (no matter how good) might not perform to the best of their abilities.

    The Winner of the Best Halves Award is another TIE:

    rhugh89 - Robbo's Reapers

    6. Kieren Foran
    7. Daly Cherry-Evans

    Levil Kinevil - The Sexual Tyrannosaurus

    6. Gareth Widdop
    7. Johnathan Thurston

    Runners Up:

    @Hamish171 - Hamish's Hierarchy

    Congratulations @rhugh89 & @Levil Kinevil on creating the star halves partnership which has proven to be a hit with the other coaches. Outright winners.

    Best Spine

    The Spine is just that, the core backbone of a team. A quality fullback, five-eigth, halfback and hooker is crucial to a side's success and consistency.

    The Winner of the Best Spine Award is:

    Hamish171 - Hamish's Hierarchy

    1. Anthony Minichiello
    6. Josh Reynolds
    7. Cooper Cronk
    9. Danny Buderus

    Runners Up:

    @Afro Zac - The Coconuts of Fiji
    @Levil Kinevil - The Sexual Tyrannosaurus
    @rhugh89 - Robbo's Reapers
    @danielyou56 - The Devils Down Under

    Big congrats @Hamish171. This was a close one but topped with a few legends and a few current stars, your impressive spine edged out the others. Well done!
