Go girls!

Ron has done well to have us consistently winning despite having to reshuffle the pack almost every week. This week he has the luxury of picking what I think will be our strongest lineup this season:

1. Tamika Upton
2. Sheridan Gallagher
3. Shanice Parker
4. Abigail Roache
5. Jasmin Strange
6. Georgia Roche
7. Jesse Southwell

13. Hannah Southwell
12. Yasmin Clydsdale
11. Laishon Albert-Jones
10. Caitlan Johnston
9. Olivia Higgins
8. Rima Butler

14. Nita Maynard
15. Tayla Predebon
16. Kayla Romaniuk
17. Tiana Davison

A lot of our form has been patchy this season but I think where we excel and why I think we can go back to back, is defensive technique and discipline. Other sides just aren’t as good as we are on a team-wide basis when it comes to preventing the opposition from gaining momentum, through line speed, effective contact and slowing the ruck more intelligently than most opposition.

I think we have the best spine in defence as well - Higgins, J Southwell and Roche are all more robust than most skill-based players in the women’s comp, so forcing them to make one-on-one tackles just doesn’t result in tries as consistently as it does against most opposition. And Upton has come along in leaps and bounds defensively and I would say stops more tries than any other fullback.

Brisbane are a good team with serious strike out wide, they’re using Hufanga a lot better and she’s now living up to the hype. The trick to me isn’t what tactics you use in defence to stop Hufanga - you need really hard inside pressure to stop them moving the ball effectively to her in the first place, and also to ensure you can get multiple bodies in front of her and not let her get up a head of steam if they do manage to get the ball to her. Then going the other way, Mele is a genuinely awful defender, so if everyone else can do their job I think we can score down that side more than they score against us. I don’t think Brisbane’s pack is that good so I’m confident we can contain them.

Knights 22 Broncos 10.

Titans to cause a major upset in the other semi final. Titans 16 Roosters 8.

Do we know what the injuries to Jessie and Sheridan from last week? Are they good to play

Jesse was a cork, so she came off as a precaution. Sheridan played the game out and was still goalkicking. I reckon they’ll both be fine.

Keeeeeen. Planning on going though I’m coming off night shift then have another night shift that night. Solid sacrifice. Go the girls.

Hope the lads get to the game, the girls have been to a lot of the lads games in final weeks. They should return the favour.

What a disgrace channel 9 is
With there women's final ad
Not only do they show case the roosters and Broncos women for the majority they hardly show titans and use us as a 2nd fiddle
But what is the biggest disgrace of it all
Is they show Ali brigginshaw lifting the trophy for the Bronx, I have never seen a defending champions team be ignored in such a way
I know it's only a ad but ffs we are minor premier's and defending champs
It should be showing us lifting up the trophy not the club that's done sweet f all since there was more than 4 teams

Completely agree, you wouldn’t even know the Knights exist when it comes to the media, let a lone that they are minor premiers and defending champs.

Promotion of the women’s game is pathetic all round. You’d think since nine’s been given the broadcasting rights for nothing for years they could at least promote it a little. NRL is just as bad though. That’s probably to be expected as gutted their own media arm as a favour to fox and nine. Perhaps one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of a business doing.

Honestly hoping the knights win purely out of spite. If not the knights, hope the Titans win!

It'll be hard to ignore them if they become back to back champs.

When we played Brisbane last, their number 13, Mariah Denman, had the game of her life.
I just looked at her numbers and she ran for 239 metres and made 3 line breaks. She averages about 110 metres in her other 8 games and has made a total of 5 line breaks all season, 3 against us, 2 against bottom placed Eels.
In that game Hannah Southwell was a late withdrawal, replaced by Felia Kia, and Simone Karponi only lasted 10 minutes before a season ending injury, so our other forwards had to do much longer minutes.
It was also the game where Rima Butler broke her thumb, and although she did the longest minutes she has done all season (41) she probably wasn't tackling great with a broken thumb.
I'm going to say Denman won't repeat her great performance she did against our worst forward pack of the year against our best this week. Hannah Southwell will dominate her.
