Southwell and Gallagher in reserves as expected.

Kukutai named in the 17 but also named in reserve grade, as are Waterman and Kirkpatrick from the reserves. Hopefully Tinao feels like tackling this week.

A new face I don't recognise from the training pics today - Johnston's squad spot replacement?

It's not Mercedez Taulelei-Siala who we've signed for next year. Pretty sure it's not Fane Finau either though I could be wrong.
 
Couple of HN CUP in all those, but looks too big for Fane, she’s stockier but much fitter.
 
In the presser he says they’re still waiting on final clearance for Jesse and that Evie’s debut gave them confidence she’ll be ready to fill in again when there’s injuries down the track, so sounds like Jesse will be straight in if/when she’s cleared.
 
Yeah from that presser sounds like Jesse will be straight back in assuming she gets the all clear.

As well as Evie went, it would be pretty nuts to drop Jesse at this point, especially when the whole team has been guilty of silly errors not just her.

She’s done a great job improving her defence, so it’s not a lack of effort from Jesse. If anything, she probably just needs to calm down, do a bit less and just keep things simple.
 
Roache ruled out with a pec injury, Gallagher named at centre in her place. Kukutai replaced with Tinao on the bench. Kirkpatrick and Southwell remain on extended bench.
 
With Predebon, Kirkpatrick and Kukutai all in the named side for reserve grade, all that makes sense would be Jesse Southwell as a ball playing lock and Hannah at prop.
 
Only other option I could see would be Gallagher in the middle and Jones shifts out to centre. Going to be a significant change either way.
 
Weird choice. Tinao only does small minutes, so you'll have some forwards pulling bigger minutes in hotter weather. Maybe taking Tigers a little lightly and experimenting. Hopefully doesn't backfire.

Surely if they were shifting one of them to lock it would be Georgia.

Moving Jesse there would also mean two rookies defending on that right edge. That’s asking a lot of Laishon on Shanice defensively. They’d really be putting a target on them against the likes of the Broncos left edge.

Not sure now is the time to be making such big changes. Season is too short. They need to build cohesion in attack as quickly as possible, not experimenting.
 
Can maybe get away with it against the Tigers but not confident any of the halves are ready to play in the middle regularly, and if it’s just a 1 week thing it’s even weirder because there were multiple simpler options on the extended bench. Whatever direction they go it feels like it must be a move they plan on sticking with so hopefully it works.
