NRL Round 15 - Knights Vs Roosters - 5:30pm Saturday 14th June - McDonald Jones Stadium

😂 Hastings has had serious issues with players and staff at every club he’s been at. He’s never played rep footy, never been great for us.
Frizell has a reputation for being a gentleman off the field, has tonnes of rep footy experience, has a noticeably positive impact on the side every time he’s put on the jersey, is currently playing in the middle (which is not his position) in a side that by all rights should be getting dominated in the middle and doing a ****ing cracker of a job there (and this is an honest question - is anyone even surprised at this point?)

Yet, I get the impression people are upset because Jackson’s partner MIGHT have had a falling out with Friz’s wife and that MIGHT have been a factor for why Jackson Hastings, despite leading a NSW cup side to second last on the ladder, hasn’t been recalled into first grade?

LOL

As much as I don’t think Hastings will offer much I agree with playing him over debuting Votano. It’s not the right time for him to debut, especially at fullback. I don’t see any scenario where we don’t have absolutely destroyed in the forwards. I know Sharpe’s young too but he’s developed enough confidence in FG already that I don’t think being massacred this game would affect him too much. We need whatever experience we can find too and at least Hastings will keep talking to them.

Wilson De Courcey making the top 22 caps a really good 4 or 5 weeks from him. He had a great game in Flegg and got promoted to reserves and continued the good form.
Probably be a forward in a year or two - solid build and goes hard. 184cm 100kg 19 year old centre now.

Does he have much in the way of athleticism? like footwork and speed? Cheers Billy

took an intercept and ran 90 to score - can't remember if it was his last game or the one before. More a hard runner than anything else, but faster than he looks.

Tough game to tip this week.

In regards to Crossland at 13 I’m not stressed. He does a lot of tackling, tops the count most weeks and it gives him the ability to watch and chime in when he wishes. (So long as chiming is doesn’t consist of him doing little 1m grubbers on the 3rd tackle) 😆

This game really could go either way. Few more guys playing for origin recall in the roosters. I guess too if you are a smart coach you’d understand that when a team throws big bodies at the middle of the Knights close to the line they get the chockies often. Plenty of strike power on the edges too. Knights will want to spread the ball, offload for second phase play and just keep the pace right up until the chooks tire out. Fast play the balls, kick deep into the corners and chase hard.

No problem with Crossland at lock. Like that Obi is leaning to towards a more mobile pack rather than trying to match other sides in the middle while we’re missing our 5 best middle forwards.

It could suit his game too. His main assets are his line speed and work rate. His dummy half work is below average for the most part.

My exact thinking. He can ball-play well enough to also bring a bit of that to the position as well. Nothing complicated but at least link with the halves a little

I wasn't sure what it meant when he was moved to the wing in flegg a couple of months back while the likes of Hunt and Aoake were playing reggies. I've loved him since he crunched a Manly fullback as he took a midfield bomb, forcing him to spill it and allowing our winger to run away for try in a flegg game. The fullback had to be replaced. He repeated the dose five minutes later but got pinged for going a bit high on that occasion. Aggression and robustness come to mind to describe him for me.

By 2027 DeCourcey, Latu and D’Acre will be fighting it out for Marzhews wing spot. Could throw Gow in there depending on his development

DeCourcey smaller mould but just as aggressive and more talented of Marz.

Latu has a Stephen Crichton huge at a young age, growing into it will his key. Wants to play centre but so far hasn’t shown very good defensive reads. Athletic and fast, huge unknown ceiling

D’Acre has shown so much ability in the air, foot work and physical ability in just 5 games. He really is exciting. Hate comparing but could go same as Mark long name at Roosters.

Gow. Very raw but damn he gets better each gate with brute force and insane speed.

Let’s just say we should have to worry too much with outside backs next few years. Development of these lads is huge. Physically imposing and naturally talented.

2027 backline
1. Sharpe/Votano
2. Dom Young
3. Hunt
4. Best
5. DeCourcey/Latu/D’Acre/Gow

I can't find any list of the NSW under 19s squad, but Votano, Hopwood and Hilliar being out this week would point to them all training with the squad this week.
Votano and Hopwood would have both been a slight chance to be in the 22 man squad if available.
Hilliar has been used in an interesting way this year.
He is wearing the 17 Jersey in Flegg every week and coming off the bench after 20 minutes and often playing out the game at prop. You can see the side lift as soon as he comes on, and he takes most of the important runs and puts himself into the middle of the defence as much as possible.
If you only looked at the team lists, you would say he is having a poor year, always being the last named on the bench - but he is easily our best forward, and probably our best player, in Flegg.

Did anyone else realise that Brock Greacen got a profile on the knights page under “teams”

Has that always been there? I can’t remember it.

It's new.
They have to put up a profile for anyone named in an NRL extended squad - something to do with fantasy league comps I think.
