Seems Nathan Davies is wanting out of the Titans and a move back closer to Sydney.

A big centre at 192cm 105kg with power speed and skill.

Only 21yrs old with plenty to offer imo.

    Thoughts?

Would be a handy pickup for the rest of the year.

I'd take him for sure. Big athletic winger

But id guess they're gonna use him now that Don is out for the season

His a talented young player with a lot of potential but I don't think outside backs particularly a specialist winger/centre is something our squad needs right now, we already have the back five that played on Saturday plus Wardle, Gagan, Dennis, Chanel Mata'Utia plus Meaney. We do have Gagai, Pete Mata'Utia, Elliot and Gagan off contract but I think re-signing Gagai, Pete and Elliot should be bigger priorities than luring Davis here plus from from 2018 onwards our back 5 should be pretty settled if all goes to plan. Davis is a talent but I can't see him wanting to come here for bottom dollar and work his way into the side via reserve grade if his not willing to do that at the Gold Coast plus with their injuries they won't be letting him go anytime soon.

His walked out on the club pretty much, he was pretty much set for a starting centre spot in rd1 but left and has been in Sydney for 3-4wks.

Imo he would be a high chance of starting in our side within 2wks of starti g here

Brown is a pretty loyal coach and seems a big fan of the Pete/Ross combo so unless he replaces Elliott who I thought was pretty solid on the weekend at fullback, I don't see how he would find his way into the team. The Tigers are the team who need him most imo their playing a second rower at centre and interchanging him with Idris who looks a long way off the pace of NRL footy and really needs a few weeks playing 80 in reserve grade.

We really have a lot of this style of player in under 20s - Denniss, Gibbs, Musgrove, Andrews, Gudgeon, McIntyre - a few of them have to come good.

Spine players and forwards are more where we have a potential shortage when we let Paea, Mataora and Tupou go, and maybe a few others.

Davis has been fully released from the Titans according to Henry.
For 100k i cant see why we wouldnt at least offer him a deal for the rest of 2017... we have coin and it would be a waste to not have a extra back on the roster... 1 more injury to a back and where looking very light on.

    Chanel
    Gagan
    Deniss
Are the 3 next best in line for nrl id have Davis over them all tbh.

Sign him for the season and can probably fill in at second row. See how he performs and a potential contract extension at end of year

Is there any details on why he walked out on his contract with the Titans??? If he is simply homesick, then that is fair enough. If there is more to it though, could be a red flag! Certainly a gifted player, if everything is above board he would be a very good addition to the roster!

    100% home sick,
His misses had already moved back to Sydney in January and Davis asked for leave for a few weeks to figure out where he wanted to be and hasnt returned and the Titans have now released him.

All good. Was hoping you guys were all talking about the same bloke. Home sick Ehh. So is Newcastle too far as well? Big powerful unit. Would look far too good for our nsw cup side. So where does that leave him? In the bench? For whom?

Id have him in firsts at centre after proving himself for a few weeks... yes peter has played well but his not gonna be a game breaker... this guy can be and the amount of room he would create for Ross the tries would flow down there side.

I mentioned this in the offseason that we should try and sign him up. Even if he doesn't make our fg squad, having him there putting pressure on the starter will keep everyone striving to be better.
