No suprises with this one - Andrew Johns has been inducted into the Hall of Fame as #3

---------- Post added at 10:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ----------

A suprise but well deserved for the 4th - Matthew Gidley!

Also, it sounds like there will be more than 4 inductees tonight.

---------- Post added at 10:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 PM ----------

Our 5th and final inductee - The late great Allan McMahon - our foundation coach.

Chief, Joey, Allan Mcmahon were all certainties, good to see they got in.
I'm genuinely suprised by Matt Gidley's Induction, but am nontheless happy as for him.
Personally I would've had Reilly over Hagan. That 97 GF win did so much for Newcastle, and even more for Rugby League. I also feel Joey won Hages his coaches ring in 01. That's just me.

Yeah I have to tend to agree with this. While Hagan definitely deserves his spot in the Hall of Fame, I'm not sure if being included in the first four (now 5) was more appropriate over other potential candidates.

You have to admit though, it's not every day you can say a player has captained his team, then led his team to a premiership win in '01 (even if a monkeys uncle could've coached that side to victory).

I don't know about a monkey's uncle doing the job. We went in as underdogs and the team played the perfect half of footy to blow the eels away. Imo Hagan deserved to be one of the first ones picked.

Hagan and Gidley are both a surprise in my book. I'd have definitely had Reilly over Hagan. Reilly did so much for our side - transformed a tough side into a genuine premiership force, without a huge cleanout of players, either. The effects of his work were still being felt in 2001.

I suppose Gidley is warranted given all his achievements ... but there's others like Stewart, MacDougall, Matthew Johns who would have been just as deserving. Bit of a coin toss that one. :)

I can't see how people are surprised by Gidleys admission!

He was awesome as a player and played for NSW and AUS and if he was in his prime and playing today he'd be the best centre in the NRL/ World

Hagan was a player and a premiership winning coach and played for QLD so I can see how he got in before Reilly!

Well done to the other 3 too

Joey, Chief n Beds are my equal favs of all time!

I have an 8 year old staffy named Chief lol

I purchased the Chief framed print but the Joey version came up sold out. I tried again and it was available. Supposed to be only 25 of each which seems a small number to run with but it's one for each year I guess.

$390 inc GST and postage. Just made a phone call and no certainty to have either of them. Unable to find out how many have been sold or whereabouts in the line I am. That's funny I thought it was 2012.

Splurged out last night 30 mins after they went on sale and ordered a Chief one.

    Should be $390 well spent.

With something as important as these inductions into a newly formed hall of fame it is axiomatic that not everyone will agree with the selections. Those people that have been selected are all worthy of the honour and congratulations to them all!

I hope that through the years the other players/coaches that many fans preferred will be inducted and possibly a category introduced for the players that have captained the side will be introduced. (Just a thought!)

The Knights website has post award interviews with 3 of the recipients. No Joey. Did he even show up ?

Yes he was there. He spoke about it on the Footy Show and it had footage of him being there.

On another note, I bought the Paul Harragon Hall of Fame print.

They've had my $800 for 3 weeks and still no word whether I actually have one, both or neither of the 2.
