I see Jirah has been named as our rookie to watch in at least one article.

Most articles say he's a former Melbourne junior. My understanding is that he played 1 year in the Melbourne Flegg side as an 18 year old and only got a few games off the bench.
He was a Union player for his school and played many other sports from athletics to basketball and gave League a try in his final year of school, and did well enough to get a 1 year deal at Melbourne.
He came to us to play Flegg and in his first games you could tell he had barely played League before, but he had a fantastic year of development and by the end of the year he was playing reserve grade and you could hardly tell him apart from Pasami Saulo.
In those days he was keeping it very simple and playing prop forward. If I'd have only seen those games I'd say he might make a good replacement for Josh King this year, because running straight and hard in the middle was what he did - and all he did.
When O'Brien arrived he said he was training Jirah as a second row. It seemed pretty unlikely at the time, but after his 3 games of firstgrade last year, you can see this guys is a natural athlete with a lot of pace, skills and strength.
His profile says he is 193cm and 109kg and he has been our strongest player since his first gym session as a 19year old.

The real question about him is - second row or prop?

He had a bit of an off day with his hands but his running and tackling looked good , i think backrow is his spot .
