Titans coach Garth Brennan doesn’t want Jarrod Wallace or any player to stay at the Titans for money

GOLD Coast skipper Ryan James admits it would be sad to lose Jarrod Wallace but coach Garth Brennan says he’d be happy to show him the door if he doesn’t want to be at the NRL club.

Wallace is off contract and testing the open market, with reports he toured Newcastle’s training facility this week and held talks with Knights officials over a potential move.

It’d be a bitter blow for the Titans to lose the 26-year-old prop, who has an option to stay at the club for $500,000 but is attracting bigger offers elsewhere.

“I’d love J-Wall to stay. I love playing upfront with him,” James told reporters on Friday.

“I played junior footy here with him. I think he’s a class player.

“He’s a Queensland front-rower and it’d be extremely sad to see him go.”

Brennan said the Titans had made a “good offer” but it was now up to Wallace and his management to decide which direction they want to head.

Canberra forward Shannon Boyd has been lined up as a potential replacement should Wallace leave.

And if it came to that, Brennan said he would be happy to let Wallace go despite his undoubted ability and importance to his side.

“If someone doesn’t want to be here at the Gold Coast Titans, I don’t care who it is - then they can leave,” he said.

“Obviously Jarrod’s my priority, I’ve said that from day one.

“But if he wasn’t to stay, there are options out there that we can move towards and it’s about bringing the right culture and the right people into the club for the right reasons.

“That builds the right culture within a football team you want.

“If they want to leave for other reasons, money or whatever, that’s fine.”

Yes please to this one. Has an offload, averages over 100m per game, good post contact.

We get a few more props like this and Jsaf might have to get used to spending his time in reggies on a more permanent basis.

Jarrod Wallace, Titans in extraordinary game of contract chicken

TITANS star Jarrod Wallace has been given a Monday deadline to re-sign with the club — or his new contract will be torn up.

The extraordinary move from the Gold Coast comes with the club also tabling a deal for Raiders weapon Shannon Boyd — reportedly worth $2.4 million over four years.

Boyd, who has been a massive signing for the Titans since leaving the Broncos, has a contract clause in his favour to activate an additional season at the Titans next year. He has until June 30 to accept or decline the 2019 option on the Gold Coast.

However, that deadline now appears redundant after the club made the bold move to force Wallace into a decision by close of business on Monday.

Wallace’s existing 2019 option with the Titans is worth $500,000, according to The Courier-Mail — but the Queensland State of Origin star reportedly has larger offers to walk to a new club next season.

The Titans’ four-year offer to Wallace is reportedly just less than the $2.4 million offered to Boyd.

According to reports on Sunday night, the Titans are prepared to walk away from Wallace if he doesn’t agree to terms on Monday in an extraordinary game of chicken.

Wallace’s deadline has major ramifications for Boyd, who may also make a contract decision as early as this week with the Raiders, Titans and Knights all reportedly interested.

It comes after coach Garth Brennan recently declared he doesn’t want players at his club who are only there for the money.

Gold Coast skipper Ryan James has admitted it would be sad to lose Wallace but coach Brennan says he’d be happy to show him the door if he doesn’t want to be at the NRL club.

I'm not a fan of Wallace he's just one of those players I really can't stand, in saying that he's a top player and would be a good signing just might take me a while to warm to him

Glasby and Wallace would help stiffen up our middle, I feel Ah Mau is gone now, he's weighing up whether to go home to Auckland for more money or stay at Dragons where he's happy

Apprently and this is only rumor! But heard from an ok source that knights are in deep talks with Nelson Asofa-Solomona

I'm sorry man I just don't believe this tbh, he's under contract having just re-signed last year I can't see how e would be negotiating with him, anything is possible in NRL but I think this one isn't
