We actually have a good squad though, a lot of coaches would love a roster like ours. It's all mental, we saw last year when they had their heads screwed on anything was possible. The feeling after that Roosters win at home was incredible, yeah they were weakened but we still beat a good team. Newcastle was on top of the world that night. I'm similar to Kurriboy on this, I'm not going into this season saying "O'Brien's awesome, he'll fix all our problems, we will be top 4 for sure!". We'll wait & see what happens. Sometimes it seems like this place is cursed, we bring in good players, good coaches & they always seem to go downhill here. You feel sorry for them at some point, because you know a lot of them probably shine elsewhere.

If they play for 80min we will win a lot more than we lose .

Yes Joshhh time will tell. Be interesting to see if all this love for O'Brien is still abounding at season's end.

The team has never had more potential for improvement.
only Pearce and Guerra have peaked. Every other player has their best football in front of them.
O'Brien seems to be a David Waite style coach in that he is very good at improving players - something Brown wasn't good at.
I think the team will start at about the standard they were at when at their best last year, and O'Brien will be able to make small changes every week by giving individual players new tasks and roles to play.

Pretty sure they were missing some big names for Origin for that game, and had an early injury in the game to a crucial player that helped, right?

You're saying that a halves pairing of Latrell Mitchell and Brock Lamb isn't as good as Cronk and Keary?

There is no way that the Roosters put a team on the paddock that night, that the Coaching Staff expected to lose.

They suffered the same consequences as most teams when key players are out and rotations are disrupted.

No different to what happens to us when we have injuries to key personnel which necessitates players playing in unfamiliar roles and positions and combinations are disjointed.

Consistency, Communication and positional understanding and awareness comes by playing shoulder to shoulder week in week out.

We were good that night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but we had a few things go our way.

We played them again in July and got pumped.

Yeah, funny how when they were full strength they busted us up.

Lol @ anybody claiming that win we had over the roosters last season meant anything.

The point made, was the Roosters turn up for every game, as do the top teams, rarely are they "off" or not up to it.

Our bunch however, cant seem to motivate themselves for over half the games in a season. Hopefully that changes this year.

And half those games was for one half only...

I think the mindset will be different. Traditional coaches like Brown will build up the week towards match day. Under these circumstances, if you are up for a big match, you can out play a stronger side on paper. You can also lose a game mentally before you run on the field, either through being overawed by a strong team, underestimating a weaker side, or suffering a mental letdown the week after a big performance.

Melbourne and the Roosters take these aspects out of play. You are expected to be at your best whenever you are engaged with the club. Every drill, every training session, every video session. Game day is just an extension of that. No big buildup, no let down, just strive for excellence every day.
