Hayden Knowles

What's the source on this Owey? Have heard him speak. Really smart and highly valued by Panthers so would be a phenomenal get for the club. Would love to hear Hoops continue to question the culture of our club.

It was Michael Chammas on the Sydney morning Herald site. The article is the one headlined Pearce going to the tigers? But that part is speculation. It states that Knowles has told the Panthers this will be his last year, moving to the knights to be closer to family.

Hopefully we manage to get Penrith's good run of injuries along with him
I'd say that is a massive part behind the change. Also, their fitness is of a high standard which helps with their defence, and I'd have to say they run with a high level of power. Plenty of upside to this one.

Toohey said on Twitter that the position that Hayden is coming for is Balin Couples boss.
So not sure if Couples is staying or going.

I thought Baz meant that he’ll be coming to fill Cupples’ current position as the boss (not to be Cupples’ boss). If Cupples stays though, seems like that’s how it’d have to be.

Ah,
I thought he meant he was replacing Couples boss.
I could be wrong, it happens.

Was Hayden Knowles here in the past? I recognise the name but not sure.
First time I remember hearing his name was when he joined Garth Brennan at the Titans, but he'd had a long career at Parra and the Roosters before that.
I got the impression that he was a long term friend of Brennan and articles at the time said that Brennan had lined him up to be head of performance at the Knights if Brennan got the job when he applied for it.
Knowles is originally from Newcastle area, but if you add all the time together he spent at Parra, Roosters, Titans, Penrith, he can't have been at Newcastle for 20 years.
